My 18 year old son, who is quite good with firearms and very responsible, is counting the days until he turns 21. He thinks the age requirement is "bogus, man." I just smile. I remember what it was like to be 18... ...sorta... ...it's been a long while.

I'm also 21. Took my class about a month and a half out from by birthday and got my pistol the same week. I thought I'd get my CHL while I was 21, but it looks like I'll be closer to 22 by the time I get it.

I hope the grandkids' reply is, "What? You mean you had to have a license to carry a gun? And people really put up with that?"

I took the class on my 22nd birthday and it is the best decision of my life. I am proud to call myself a CHL'er.

My dad bought me my first carry pistol after I had my CHL, because I was unable to do so! I was only 19 at the time I got it.

I have been carrying for about a year and a half now. I'm 21, and just bought a new Glock.
