As most of you know new and renewing CHL applications from about February up to present time, were extremely delayed because of the massive increase in applications. Now from what i understand there was a lot of temporary employees added to the DPS to cover the increase which is just now seeming to get caught up with.
My question is, for all of those extra applications that DPS was not ready for this time, they will be renewing here in a copule of years. Has anyone heard of what actions will be taken for DPS to be ready for all of those renewals when it comes time again. Or are we in store for another period of long processing delays in a couple years when all those apps renew?
I don't suspect all those new temp. employees will be around long after the applications start to die down.
Future CHL renewal delays??

Actually, it will be at least 4 or 5 years before those applicants need to renew. And, with the current situation in Austin, I sincerly doubt they are looking that far ahead. There was another "surge" in applications in 2001 after 9/11. I was not aware of any major impact on processing times when those came up for renewal - just the normal "you get it when you get it" ...
Mine expires in mid-November. Or was scheduled to. I got paperwork turned around pronto on both my end and they did the same (not necessarily because I'm an instructor either). Right at 7 weeks and I had new license in hand. With what I'd been hearing about the dealys, I jumped on it early!
