I contacted my local state rep over one week ago and I have recieved nothing but an email from them thanking me for contacting them? :headscratch
I just checked my status again and I'm still in the 'processing phase' :cryin .

I dunno if that had anything to do with why I went complete today but maybe. Now I must play the waiting game. I just hope it got overnighted ups like some of the others. ;-) :rolll :woohoo
I also decide to email the governor's office today as a last resort, I played up every option I had including my family's Texas history:

Governor Perry,
My concern and request for assistance lies with the DPS and their failure to procure my background check information
for my CHL license for over 6 week's now. Here is the information regarding my application and the current status of
my CHL license:

Date application sent to DPS: 06-06-'08
Date application recieved by DPS: 06-09-'08
Date M/O cashed by DPS: 06-16-'08
Date PIN recieved from DPS via email request: 07-18-'08
Current status: Processing application since atleast 07-01-'08

I am a member of the TexasCHL forum and I personaly know of atleast 3-4 member's who have recieved their CHL license
already. These applicant's submitted their application's anywhere from 4-6 week's AFTER I had submitted my application.
I know the DPS is experienceing a 51% increase in application's but I cannot fathom why my application is taking so long
to complete. I had contacted my local state rep Hubert Vo but I have recieved no reply or help from his office.

I am a native Texan who can trace his family tree all the way back to Lieutenant Colonel William Barret Travis.
I have no criminal background or history and I am currently persueing a career in law enforcement. Any assistance from
you or your office would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Gregg Travis

UPDATE:
Called and was told another month, but all backgorund checks, etc have come in.
Does it typically take that long, or do they usually give a buffered estimate?

From the first page:

Class May 17
Mailed May 30
Received June 2
Pin July 11
Processing as of July 14

I guess it's not that bad though, I still haven't picked out my carry 1911 and holster. I guess I should get on that asap.

i think they tell you it will take longer than "they think it will" in order to not tell you something and not deliver on it. :mad5

I think the saying goes "under promise and over deliver"

I called the number that was given to me by BigHays. Thank you. Ieft a voicemail and the lady returned my call later in the afternoon. She told me that all my background checks were back and that she was waiting to enter my information into a general query. What is this general query and how come I have never heard of it? She also said that she inputs information once a week and that is every Tuesday and on Thursdays the licenses are issued. Does anyone know what she is talking about with this general query? I am glad that at least all of my info is in and they are in the final steps. :anamatedbanana Any word from the other people here in the June thread?

I called my Rep's office yesterday, and got a return phone call today. He's bothered by the reports I gave him of delays that are as far back as the April applicants, and he told me would be calling the DPS HQ on Monday to inquire as to what the problem is, and what action he needs to take to help alleviate the problem. He's very supportive of the CHL laws and we had around a 30 minute conversation about the time delays, and also about other issues related to CHL holders. I'm going to direct him to this forum and have him read what's going on and the experiences of the others here when he calls me back on Moday.
