bigdave238 wrote:Regardless of what DPS : says it shouldn't matter what county you are in there should be a set of rules regarding this and there doesn't seem to be. It seems counties can take as long as they want to on these checks. We all paid our money (if we had to that is :patriot: ) so we should be treated fairly and done in order. We shouldn't be at the mercy of some little county clerk who is too busy wasting our tax money instead returning our background checks.
:iagree:
I know the DPS still has to do their background check's but I do find it frustrating that I submitted my civil, criminal and traffic violation disposition's with my application. One would think that would help speedup the process? Oh well I know I have been a good boy and should not be denied or have any problems, like the DPS told me no news is good news! :patriot:

I contacted my state rep anyway so now let's see if I get a reply of any sort.

Well,

Today my father in law received his CHL. He mailed his application on June 20th, and recevied his plastic today, August 28 which is a total of 69 days from when he mailed his application to when he received his license. He never called in to check status, never got his representative involved, nothing. He just waited patiently. It looks like the CHL group is starting to catch up.

Also, I should note that he got his PIN # in the mail last week, and this week got his application. Just goes to show how worthless the PIN # is.

Called today just to see where mine was,and they told me that they were waiting on the federal background check to come back, that the local and state checks had already been back.
:yawn :yawn :yawn
This is starting to suck...

Wow I never got that much information from them. All they told me was 51% increase and would still be awhile.

I still cannot understand how they can complete some July applications before the June ones, that absolutely makes no sense to me??

Or why they complete some July applications before May applications.

They are blaming it on the background checks. But I seriously doubt there is a two month difference in background check times based on which county you are in, or the federal BG check actually has a +/- 8 weeks timeframe. I think they are passing the buck.

That's my suspicion as well. I don't think they have any kind of system for completing these things, and they just do it by the seat of the pants.

During my last two calls to the DPS I brought up the reason for my concern, regarding July app's completed, I basically got the run around. During my last call the person I spoke with transfered me to the agent who is handling my app and naturally I had to leave a voicemail and have recieved no return phonecall. Atleast I know now that I will send in my renewal request atleast 2 month's before my license expires.

Just called again today, and got a different story-that they have no idea as to what stage it's in,only that it's "processing". The tech I spoke with highly suggested writing my rep,and that it was one of the only ways to ensure that the process was changed to be more efficient.

I'm still waiting on that darn mailman... :totap: :grumble :waiting:

This wait is worse than waiting on the "App Complete" message.

I just checked my status again and I'm still in the 'processing phase' :cryin .
