OK, All laughs aside now. Jbirds, you did hit on the thing that is probably the biggest factor in the debate over G's VS 1911. That is age. It is not 100% but us baby boomers that have held these frames for forty +yrs just have our autheritic hands molded to this shape & anything else just don't seem to fit. I tell anyone who asks what I think of G's that they are quality handguns. I personally dont like the way they feel but having Glock written on the side does not make them a poor choice like having Jennings Bryco written on the side would. That gets the point across.

I agree with you LT  I'm just giving you guys a hard time. I love my 1911 and plan on posting a pic of it this evening with the new grips.

I wasn't around when Elvis started, but I still like to listen to his music! :smilelol5:

Me too. I do split carrying my 1911 and G19 50% of the time though. That G19 is so light compare to that 1911. lol.

Yes I saw Elvis when he had the leather cover on his J200 Gibson. I was such A country boy I thought he was really dumb. Saw the Beatles on Ed Sullivan & was there when Itsi Bitsy Yellow Poka Dot Bikini hit the chart. Who remembers the One Eyed One horned Flying Purple People Eater?

Oh, great... now I've got that tune running through my head. :willynilly: Can't forget, "They're Coming to Take Me Away! Ha ha, hee hee!" or "I'd rather have a bottle in front of me...."

I want to post a pic of my 1911's, but the Springfield is in the shop having an ambi safety installed, and the soon-to-be-mine Colt is still on layaway. Hopefully (fingers crossed) I'll have the Springfield back by Monday. (is there a smiley for "impatient"?)

I would rather see the 1911's than review late 50's dumb songs. Q, you will love the ambi safety. Which Springer. :totap: Impatient?

It's one o' these: http://www.springfield-armory.com/image ... LLarge.jpg

I'm having a "modified" extended ambi installed - not as long as a typical extended safety. Just enough extra there to give me better leverage for one-handed use.

I was leaving Marksville, LA on Friday, and we had to wait for traffic to clear at a bad wreck. The deputy standing with his back to us was showing a familiar-looking single stack magazine. When he turned sideways, yup, there it was: 1911, Condition One.

I'm sure a .45 is the only logic some Cajuns will listen to. ;-)

I wasn't really expecting to get the Springfield back before Monday - Verle had it ready for me to pick up this afternoon! He also pulled the Colt out of the safe so I could get a quick snapshot of both. I'll have to get better pics later when I can actually bring the Colt home.

Image

Here are links to a couple more pics:

Springfield (I found a pic I took before having the ambi safety installed)
Colt (left side)
Colt (right side)

The finish on the Colt is in really good condition - it's been fired, but not heavily, & was well taken care of by the previous owner. Still has the original box and paperwork.

I suspect we will see more Colts with the original papers and box, since Colt uses the plastic box. But finding one with the original cardboard box and/or papers is rare indeed. I have to admit that I threw many away in younger years, but not in the last 25!

Nice looking guns you have there quidni.
