Re: Utah wait times?
BigBlueDodge - a couple of things to note about the Utah process:
First, they give Utah residents priority. They will not process non-resident permits if they have a backlog of Utah residents. So, you might be waiting a bit longer if they received a bunch of resident applications shortly before yours.
Second, if you already have a permit from another state that also performs a FBI background check, then they will issue your permit based on that, without waiting for the FBI check to come back. That is, if you sent them a copy of your other permit.
If your card was charged on 7/9, then you should expect your Utah plastic about 9/9.

Re: Utah wait times?
I received my Utah plastic in the mail exactly 60 days from the date they received the application.
I have yet to see my Texas PIN.

I received my Utah plastic today. Over 60 days from mailing in the packet, but under 60 days from payment (about 2 weeks on either side.)

Ok, Utah came through in a timely manner. Then they dropped the" FBI can't distinguish your fingerprints. Cough up a new set or we will suspend"
Now , we sent this set of fingerprints in with an attestation that this was the best print available. 'Ciase this is now the fourth time no body likes my fingerprints.
Is there a local scanning system for fingerprints? Four diffferent experienced individuals have taken my prints, they have all flunked.
Help!

Re: Utah wait times?
I had the opportunity to call Utah DPS today. I received my permit from Utah the first part of July. My wife's was mailed at the same time and still no word. When we arrived home from vacation last week, there was a large envelope for her from Utah DPS. It had a fingerprint card and a letter saying they never received her prints.
When I called them today, there was a lengthy intro recording, but option 3 was for concealed handgun permits. The phone was answered promptly. I explained the situation and she put me on hold a couple of times to check info and actually found my wife's prints in a lost file. She also seemed very surprised that I already had my permit based on the received date on my wife's application. When she checked on mine, it had a received date almost 2 months earlier. I said I had assumed mine was quicker because I sent a copy of my Texas CHL. She said this is not a factor at all in the processing time.
So, hopefully my wife's permit will be in the mail in 2 wks or so (by what they told me today). Not sure why hers got slow-tracked compared to mine, but from what they told me sending another state's CHL doesn't speed it up any. YMMV.

Re: Utah wait times?
I sent the packet certified mail, cause the post office guy said that would be the cheapest way to have confirmation. I see today that the status says
Notice Left, October 10, 2008, 9:25 am, SALT LAKE CITY, UT 84118
Does that mean there was no one there?
How did you guys send yours to Salt Lake City?
