I still don't have my PIN.

Update....pims14 wrote:Just got a call from the DPS. They said that my wife's application (sent in at the same time) is just waiting for one record to come back for her DPS background check, and that her license is being manufactured. Mine is a different story... Apparently, I am missing part of my physical description which cannot be corrected thru email or the telephone. They have mailed me a form that I will have to fill out and then mail back to them. Missing information is completely my fault, but shouldn't the DPS already have this information? Oh well, alteast I'm nearing the end of this mess.
I received the letter in the mail yesterday stating that I had neglected to fill out the eye color box, nothing more. Shame on me for filling out everything correctly, but how does the DPS not know my eye color? Anyway, I already knew about the eye color problem a couple of days ago, and was told that this could be corrected via email. But, I faxed a corrected application to them today anyway, and I will still mail them a corrected application also.
I called the DPS to confirm the fax, which they can't/won't do. I was told to check back with them some time next week. Also, I was told a week ago that both background checks were done. This morning, I was told that they were waiting on both BGs to come back.
I can't tell you how much I hate the DPS at the moment.

Re: April Applications
Yesterday was 106 days since they entered my application in the system. I called and spoke to a woman who was very nice & sympathetic. She said they were waiting on background checks to come back it would probably be the "middle of August"
I truly believe that they have no idea what is happening with any applications.

Well, as far as I know, they haven't finished mine or my wife's (both received 4/22). I'll be calling on Monday if I don't have them by tomorrow.ericsu19 wrote:It all depends on who you talk to at DPS I have a buddy who called and they said thay have finnished April and working on May. Re: April Applications
Mine is still not complete as well reveived April 16 over 90 days. It just goes to show they will say anything to get you of the phone.
Re: April Applications
GOT IT!
I've been lurking in this room without comment, since I sent in my application. Received my PLASTIC today, 2 days short of 90 days, but not without some assistance from my State Representative.
About 1 week after my State Rep inquired, I was told my PIN was mailed on June 12th. As of today (19th), I still haven't received it, so I've been spared the frustration of constantly checking on-line status.
But in the same phone call, I was also told my license was being mailed that day, and today I GOT IT!
Unfortunately, I just sent my Ruger LCP back to Ruger on Thursday, to find out why it has so many FTF's, and I don't have a concealment rig for my Glock 19, so my Wally Walk will have to wait until I get my LCP back.
Good Luck to everyone here! I think there are signs of DPS beginning to catch up a little, so maybe yours won't be much longer!

CCW in hand; WW Pending!
Application received by DPS 4/21
State Rep Inquired 7/7
PIN never received (sent on 7/12)
Plastic sent on 7/14 (but postmarked 7/17)
Plastic received on 7/19..............88 days, with assistance!

Re: April Applications
If I were to guess, I would think that DPS process would look something similar toericsu19 wrote:It all depends on who you talk to at DPS I have a buddy who called and they said thay have finnished April and working on May. Good luck to all
1. Open packet and manually enter all information into system or if online application, verify that no information has changed
2. DPS does it's initial internal checks
3. DPS sends information to your local designee and FBI
4. DPS waits for information back from local designee and FBI
5. DPS issues card
Now, it is possible that DPS is finished with steps 1-3 for April applicants. I would think that by now they have already sent off all of the April applicants information to the local designees and FBI. So while they are waiting for those applications, they can start steps 1 & 2 for May applicants. But I don't work for DPS, so this is purely speculation on my part.
