I think you may be unfamiliar with the actual meaning of the terms as used on military firing ranges.

"Lock and Load" has a meaning that has nothing to do with trigger locks, safes, weapon mounted safeties or Hillary holes.

LOCK a magazine into the magazine well. LOAD a round into the chamber. I remember voicing "Lock and load one 20 round magazine." in Basic when I would put a fresh pack of cigarettes into my plastic cigarette box.

Locked and Loaded is therefore holding a live round in the chamber and a magazine in the magazine well. :txflag:

Just be sure to not tap the magazine on your head, it looks really silly when you are not wearing a pot.

the XD has been wandering the earth with one in the chamber since i picked it out. i have no problems leaving one in the pipe and won't ever, ever, ever leave the house in any other condition. period. if you can't do this with confidence you need to get more familiar with your gun or get another gun. that second it takes you to rack the slide may be the instant that sends you to the grave. it is going to take you long enough to reach, move your cover garment, draw, acquire target, oops forgot to chamber a round..........................

I will be carrying a 1911: cocked and locked. Always slap the butt of the magazine...hard, to make sure it is seated. As someone has already stated here that there is nothing as loud as a click, when there should have been a bang, in a critical situation.

Just thinking back to the Army days and tapping the magazine on my Kevlar pot before inserting it in to my 16.
