UPDATE.

In my last post I had stated I had sent an email to DPS and received the following reply. "Your application will be mailed in the next 3-4 weeks." Well I had questions about the reply.

So I emailed DPS again. and asked if they meant my license. This is the reply I received back. "Yes, I meant license will be mailed in the next 3-4 weeks."

So I guess with the overload of Apps. They are running at 90 days per license's.

Some sit on processing application for weeks. In the end I think it's close to the same. See my time line below. Long on one short on the other.

Subject: 60 Day Application Status

Good Afternoon,

First of all, I understand your office has seen a signifigant spike in applications. I thank you all for your work.

I hate to bug you, but I believe my application has been processing for roughly 60 days and I wanted to check the status. Do you know yet if my fingerprints are OK? If so, has the background check been completed? Also, I assume there is nothing I can do to help, however, if there is, please let me know.

Thanks,

Yep, I figger RugerP345, Longhorn92, and I could potentially be next up given the pacing of the latest "App. completed" folks, and the fact that we're sitting on Day 88, 87, & 86 respectively. I'll fire off an email to DPS & my rep on Tuesday (which will be Day 90) if I haven't been treated to a status change by then.

JT
5 Feb 2008 - completed online application
1 March 2008 - completed CHL course
5 March 2008 - package delivery @ DPS
28 March 2008 - Day 23, "Processing Application"
12 June 2008 - Day 99, "Application Completed" :thumbs2:
20 June 2008 - Day 107, plastic in hand :txflag:

Since we are on similar timelines, I'm curious to see who gets their plastic first. This would be a great indicator as to how things are run over in Austin. I bet they have no logical process, i.e. FIFO. The race is on Men!

Count me in as well, day 81 here and a classmate of longhorn92. Although it seems like they still have a few February apps in the queue.
