Wow. I didn't know anyone actually used those frequencies. I rarely hear anything when I scan through there, and the only radio I have that will tune there is in my truck, which doesn't have a resonant antenna.

Okay,

Anyone here want to post or PM JLaw with info on becoming a HAM radio junkie? Been curious for a long time but know nothing about what's involved as far as radio cost, licsense fees, exams involved, etc.

JLaw,

Check out this thread http://www.texasshooting.com/TexasCHL_F ... ilit=radio as there are some good links in it.

By your profile, you show to be in The Woodlands. There is the Northwest Amateur Radio Society radio club in Spring, TX that would be close http://www.w5nc.net/. Give them a email and let them know you are interested. Usually someone will contact you and offer to help. There might even be another ham on here that is close to you that would be willing to 'elmer' you.

Oh wow, guess I should have read more in the Off Topics forum! There is plenty of good links there. Thanks for the link to w5nc.net, Keith, I'll send them an email soon.
