The bank does not own your house. Your house is collateral for the loan you took on it. To protect the bank's investment in your loan, they require, as part of the contract that you agreed to, that the homeowner insure the home. The bank doesn't require you to insure the house because they own it. They got you to sign a contractual obligation to insure it, so, if they do take over ownership of the house (foreclose), the house will still be worth something. If you don't agree to the insurance, then they don't have to lend to you, and their contract allows then to take out insurance for you and bill you for it if you fail to maintain insurance on the house you used for collateral on the mortgage loan.kauboy wrote:Last time I checked, I have to pay homeowners insurance.zeroskillz wrote:The idea that it's okay to carry there because the Government owns it, is like saying the Bank can put rules and restrictions on what you do in your home because they own it.
Why??? Why do I have to pay it?
Simple. Because "they" own it, and told me to.
Also, the point is moot because a bank and a homeowner sign a contract that both agree to.
You can't equate the same thing to an individual and their government.
The law contains the restriction about government property because it is meant to protect the citizen from an overstepping government.
Private business can mostly do whatever it wants.

Remember, in a life-or-death situation, when seconds count, the police are only minutes away.

Re: Fort Worth Gun Show Posted?
I see that the discussion is winding down, but just as a pragmatic aside, I thought I'd mention what I've always done:
I unload in the bathroom (or elevator) and slip my magazine into a pocket and my empty gun back in the concealed holster. When I approach the friendly officers at the table, I smile, remove my gun, lock the slide back, and hand it to them. They zip tie it and hand it back. I still feel that I am armed if I need it, as I carry a sharp pocketknife. When leaving, I reverse the process in the bathroom and I'm good to go.
However, if as the previous poster mentioned, the show will be posted 30.06, I don't know if this will rule out my tactic (does 30.06 only apply to loaded handguns?).

Neither 30.06 nor 46.02 makes a distinction between loaded or unloaded.stoneface wrote:(does 30.06 only apply to loaded handguns?).
We're here. With gear. Get used to it.

When a venue that posts 30.06 (valid or not) hands you back your unloaded, zip-tied pistol and lets you holster and conceal it as you enter, they have given you effective permission to carry a concealed handgun despite their 30.06 notice.
You are legally free to stop at the first restroom, cut off the tie, and reload.

They don't let you carry into any gun shows. They always have a couple officers at the door that will clear your firearms and put a zip tie through the slide if it's a semi-auto.

Call me crazy. I won't go to a gun show that is 30.06 posted. To me it is an insult to CHL holders.
