There is profanity in this article.

It does.

Almost as chilling as the tale Charles told us the other Friday night at the self defense seminar.

That is probably the one thing I worry about the most when im out and about. If I my wife is with us she knows that when something happens its her job to grab our son and go the opposite way. But when its only my son and I it becomes a diffrent tactic mind set. I hope that I never have to be in a defensive situation at all but if it has to be when its the two of us I just hope I can make the right choice.

Thanks for the link.

I think the guy did well with his awareness and gaining position on the BG's.

Yup,

Pretty spooky. He did very well though.

I would add some verbal commands...but otherwise he was spot on.

Dang, that gave me the shakes.

If you have time, read all the comments under the main story. Some good discussion.

I gotta give him credit for his situational awareness, even tho he's a big strong man he observed something that seemd out of line and continued to observe until it became apparent he was being targeted, then he formulated a quick defense and ruined their plans.I being handicapped feel like i have a big red target on my back daily,I'm always in condition orange,My balance sucks, and I cannot run or move quick, all somebody has to do is get behind me grab my wallet and push me and i'm eating concrete, but as soon as i can get in position to draw game over.People have been killed over tennis shoes,I have to be of a mindset ,not if but when and keep scanning the lot and people lurking or closing in close enough proximity to be a threat,oh yeah if it's 95 degrees out and somebodys got their hoodie hiding their head i'm at condition red
It is said that if you line up all the cars in the world end-to-end, someone would be stupid enough to try to pass them

I got my plastic a few weeks ago. My wife is applying for hers next month. And my son is going to apply for his on the day he turns 21 in 2 years and 10 months from now. We spend a lot of time together as a family. Pity the fool who attempts something crazy on us.

All the same, I have had to deal with hundreds of gunshot wounds in my lifetime, and I honestly hope that I A) never have to draw my weapon; and B) never have to fire it in self defense. Like dukalmighty, I'm not nearly as physically capable as I used to be when I was younger, but knowing that my weapon is there on my hip, ready if needed, is a very comforting thought. Although I am still fairly new to this CHL stuff, it is amazing to me how much I already feel almost naked if I'm not armed - even inside my house.

I can't be the only one who feels like that.

About 2+ yrs ago we had a thread on the board about home carry. Our household was 24-7 at that time when we walked out the door. Things were still OK in the neighborhood here but starting to see some change. It was that thread that started me keeping it on while at the house.
Now I never put a door between me & my gun.

Great policy and one that I have implemented at my house also.

I too now tend to carry at home. I always carry when I leave the house (except when voting the other night and man, that felt weird!). I feel like a target is on my back at stores, like W-mart because I have a passel of little kids with me always. Thus far, we have been blessed and have had no incidents.

I pasted a link to an e-mail and sent this to my friends & relatives.

Aside from his irreverence with the Almighty's name, it was well-written and revealed what happens to people that are simply living life and minding their own business.
