Just what I'm looking for.
That's $0.519 per round or $0.5099 per round as opposed to $1.1495 per round. Big difference.
Thanks!

What's the difference in the LE Tactical loads from just the regular Federal Premium Hydra-Shok?

I just ordered me some more Federal LE Tactical HST .45 and 9mm ammo from ammunition to go. Seems they have the best price going for this stuff at the moment.

The HST's are supposed to be the new hydro shok round. I have been happy with ammunition to go prices and shipping so far, no problems.

I have a friend who is one of those"anti-tax" on internet purchases people. Not that I recommend this, but he states if you order ammo from a texas company, you put the city and state to somewhere like Louisiana and use your proper zip code. He states he doesn't pay state tax. He is a sly bugger, but I won't be trying that.

Technically, anything could be delivered to you with only your zip+4. My mom once sent a letter with a persons name, and say 77024-3454 and it got there with no prob. Call it your homes SSN
Again, not advising anyone to try this to shirk the taxes.

I don't mind paying my share of the taxes. For what I have saved in ordering 50 round boxes of federal HST's versus the 20 round boxes that I see at academy, I still come out way ahead.

Argghhhhh!!

Last night I checked the Katy Walmart on the way home, my 100 round WWB .40S&W was up $5. So then I stopped off at my Sealy walmart where just 10 days or so ago I emptied their shelf and bought 900 rounds at $21.88 per box of 100, they too had raised their price $5. :mad5

Good thing I'm stocked, for a couple of months anyway. Time to start looking online I guess.....

Bass Pro has 10% all ammo through the end of the month. This makes their 100 ct box of WWB .40 come down to $22.94. Just a buck higher than Wal-Mart was charging a couple weeks back.

It may be worthwhile for some of you to take a look.

Yes, 9mm WWB is up $3 in Walmart for the box of 100. But Academy (in Sugar Land) still sells the 9mm Monarch for $7.50 for the FMJ and $6.50 for lead / 50 rounds. That's the cheapest I found for 9mm. Looks good quality and had no problem when I shot it (the FMJ).

The big difference I have found with Monarch over WWB is it is 'dirtier' and leaves a lot of powder residue. That is no problem for me since I always clean my guns after going to the range. It always goes bang, so the price is more imporatnt to me.

I have not tried the new steel cased Monarch they are selling for $6.99 in the blue box at Academy, but am going to as soon as I can get to the range.

Thanks!! I went by there yesterday and they had ONE box on the shelf. Well, the gun counter guys looked bored so I asked them if they had more, and they said the computer showed 10 boxes in the store. 20 minutes later, he came back with all 10 and I bought them all, but they said there's more coming in.

I think with 1800 rounds at home, that's all the wifey will let me have before she starts getting worried :headscratch . I'm surprised she hasn't complained already!

Yep.
I bought a 100-round box of Winchester USA (the white box) 165 gr. FMJ .40 S&W earlier this week for $21.88 at Wal-Mart in Hobbs, NM.

Yeah, I just bought a 100-round box of WWB .40 S&W at Wal-Mart in Hobbs, NM this morning.
It's gone up to $26.88.

Yep; confirmed. I have an upcoming class with John Farnam, and have decided to shoot .40. Most of what I have stocked up is S&B, and John isn't fond of it. So I took the morning off, did my early voting thang, and swung by the Wal-Mart at Hwy 6 and 529 northwest of Houston. Sure enough, $26.88 per box of 100 for WWB. I bought a thousand rounds, anyway.

I also bought 10, 20-round boxes of plain-ol' 55-grain UMC brass-cased .223 for $8.52 per box. (Most of what I have "stockpiled" is SS109 penetrator, which I can't shoot in the class.)

For a year, I've been sorta on-again, off-again maintaining a spreadsheet tracking ammo prices and sources. To wax nostalgic for a moment, the cheapest new-manufacture, brass-cased .223 I have on file is 31.1 cents per round, Fiocchi 55-grain, from August 2007 at AIM Surplus. My Wal-Mart buy today was 42.65 cents per round.

The cheapest new-manufacture, brass-cased .40 S&W in my file is 20.8 cents per round, Sellier & Bellot 180-grain, also from August, from Sportsman's Guide. Today's Wal-Mart buy was 26.88 cents per round...29.2% higher!

Are you kidding me? There is no such thing as cheap .223/5.56 anymore. Those days are gone.

The best training ammo right now IMO for the money is probably Aguila. If you look around you can find them for like $340/1000.
