Pro-CHL radio...
...anybody here ever listen to The Chris Baker radio show in Houston? He's on KTRH (740AM) Monday to Friday afternoon from 3-7 PM.
I've heard him reference CHL generally from time to time, and always in a positive light, but today, after discussing the knucklehead that instigated the 2 hour police chase the other day, he went to a commercial with the words "now go get your gun permit!".
He needs our support.
Chas- you should call in, I think it would be a great platform...

Those bone-headed things are said on purpose...And yes, they do tend to hack away at his credibity somewhat...But he has a background in stand-up, and has stated as such many times...ghentry wrote:I'm not so sure we want him being a spokesperson for our cause. He says a lot of bone-headed things joking around that really doesn't help his credibility.
His commentary is a bit edgy at times...
His comments, like mine sometimes, are made to illicite certain types of responses...
If I recall, his banter during the time leading up to, and during the NRA convention last year was very supportive of our cause...
But I do understand your concerns overall...

I listened to Baker when he first came to Texas (from FL?) some years back. He was pretty much gun-neutral in those days.
He asked a firearms laws related question on air one day and asked for a policeman to call in.
What turned me OFF to him was he really put down a CHL, then a CHL instructor who called in to correctly give Baker a heads-up on Texas firearms laws and the CHL program. He basically (and rudely and derisively) told the CHL's that they couldn't possibly know Texas firearms laws as well as a police officer!
When a HPD called him, he admitted he didn't know the answer to Baker's question because "he wasn't a gun guy" and he had only been here from New York for 4 years. Okay no problem regarding the HPD guy(thanks for the honesty). But Baker really turned me off. Fortunately , he has since learned more about the program.

Guys,
I used to listen to 950AM every day when Dan Patrick was the manager. Then Clear Channel took over and got rid of every one. Dan and most of his gang went to 700AM and Edd Hendee joined the morning lineup later. He's been great. He even went to Iraq for two weeks covering the war up close and personal. He may even go back. In case you didn't know, Edd owns the Tast of Texas restaurant doing the talk radio thing on the side.
Shortly after he got back from Iraq, he interviewed a reporter who was calling the Iraqi election a total failure. Edd asked him where he was during the election. The reporter said the he was in Jordan. Edd asked how he could possably know what happened if he wasn't even in the country. Edd was there and he slammed the liberal guy. Turns out the reporter was going on what the other reporters were telling him while they were in the green zone. In case you aren't familiar with the green zone, it's a "safe place", if there is one in Iraq, where most of the reporters hang out isolated from the rest of the country.
Bottom line, listen to Edd Hendee in the morning on AM700 from 06:00 to 09:00. He's a good guy who respects everyone worth respecting, even liberals if they act like adults.
