I am about the same size as you and this holster works GREAT for me. I hide my 5" Kimber with the use of a loose button up shirt with an undershirt tucked in. I can even use a regular loose (but not too baggy) T-shirt with little noticable buldge

This is correct, but there is something else to consider here.kauboy wrote:Texas doesn't have a "printing" law. As stated before, the only thing you would need to worry about is "failure to conceal". Since no gun is visible, I'd say your safe from arrest, but you still may get visited. The sheeple get scared easily.
Are you only walking upright and not sitting, squatting, bending to get in/out of a vehicle? Are you planning on this type of carry outside where the wind can easily blow your shirt open? There is much to consider other than simply standing in one's room. Carry situations are different, as circumstances are different. Have you considered all the normal ways you intend to carry your weapon and how your attire will need to conform to those activities?

Looking at weapon position, I have to ask if you have considered a defensive firing position from your backside, on the ground? How are you going to draw that weapon if you are sitting/lying on top of it? (Don't tell me it can't happen to you....it can if someone walks up behind you and cold cocks you in the head with a club.)Odin wrote:What is wrong with this picture?Target1911 wrote:I am about the same size as you and this holster works GREAT for me. YES it was taken in the mirror...........The trigger is not as exposed as it appears in the pic (due to angle of pic).
Due to my size, it is not comfortable to move it to say.....3:00 position..... That is actually about the 4....but once again....its the mirror/angle/so on and so on.
I am still in the process of trying different holsters. This is my first IWB.
I ride a Harley and when I ride, it works GREAT. I will trying out more as funds allow.
I do want to thank everyone for your in-put....
...but I do think it has gone off topic from the OP. Sorry

if i can see the front of the trigger at any angle it's exposed and a safety issue... if the front can be reached by anything ever a twig while in the holster it's not safe...

oh yeah.....and my belt.....It is just a leather belt.....a really thick, stiff leather belt that I got at a Bike shop in Euless TX for about $40. It is a single piece of leather that is the thickness (or thicker) than most double leather belts. It has taken almost a year to get it broken in where it is really comfortable....but it works GREAT as a gun belt.

Yes....maybe a twig could possibly wedge itself thru my cover garment and find its way into the trigger BUT....it is a 1911 and has a thumb and grip safety so I dont worry about it. I just dont see anything flippin mt thumb safety, sqeezin the grip safety, AND pulling thrigger at the same time. I am not trying to be a horses butt. I just personally dont see it happening.

buy a gun belt... beltman belts, wilderness trainer, something with reinforcements.. it will amaze you the difference a belt designed to support the weight and holster will make... i went from thinking i was comfy carrying to truly experiencing the comfort that can be had while carrying... get a REAL belt... the wal-mart, mall jobs won't do it.. get one designed for it.Target1911 wrote:oh yeah.....and my belt.....It is just a leather belt.....a really thick, stiff leather belt that I got at a Bike shop in Euless TX for about $40. as for the holster, your call.. but the ability for the trigger to have a snag as you draw is the danger, not it wedging in there and bypassing multiple softies... but your weapon firing as you draw.

To be completely honest about my belt, I have had my hands on mnay 'gun belts' and the one I have actually is more ridgid than the leather and wilderness type gun belts that I have tried. This is not just some cheap Wal-mart belt. Untill recently, it was actually too stiff for comfortable use as a gun belt because it wouldnt give very much thru/around the holster. Now that it is broken in well, it works great.
I see what you are saying about possibly pulling the trigger on the draw but.....there is not one holster in the world that protects the trigger untill you are ready to fire. Every trigger gets exposed very early on during the draw. Mine just gets exposed 1000th of a second faster than yours.
