I'm not sure on that. Me, I am not running towards gunfire. I have a wife and baby. I'm their "hero", and they come first. I cannot justify running into something to save a stranger when you may die and leave an orphan and widow behind. I'm not trying to sound callous, it is just my opinion.dukalmighty wrote:Heres my take if i have the means to stop and repel an attack i will run to the sound of gunfire, albeit using cover and concealment as i advance, but i ain't taking fists to a gunfight, they reported the police arrived on scene in a blazing six minutes.I think they reported exactly how people react to a situation they cannot defend against, hide and hope all those years of playing hide and seek have taught you how to hide really good.It doesn't even have to be a firearm if the gu was waving a knife and stabbing people the sheeple will run

Given all the controversy (Ahem! ) that is attending the most recent "first person" account, I hesitate to post this, but what the heck. I found it interesting, you can go read it for yourself and see what you think.
At the link below is what purports to be a first person, anonymous, account of the shootings at the Westroads Mall in Omaha. I found it on the blog of an Omaha blogger, which is also the first place I read that the mall had "no gun" signs.
Unlike other recent accounts, this "first person" did not have a CHL or a gun, but sounds like he wishes he did.
For your consideration:

Yes..I mean I know you are right. My CHL instructor mentioned a fellow who drew on a man (waco/kileen?)outside a court room who fired on his own son. The CHl was killed, being a hero. The instructor said, you are not a hero. No parent should bury their child. Draw only if your life, or your familes life is on the line. Everything else leaves you parents without a son, a wife without a husband, and kids without a father.
I respect our military and vets more than anything else in the world. If Hemizygotes story proved true, I would call him a Hero. That being said...I would never without need put myself in the line of fire and risk not being a father to my baby. 5 years ago? Probably.

I'm not advocating "running towards gunfire" but i couldn't face my family knowing that b/c i failed to act there were parents burying their children and children without parents. There's a bug difference in being in the wrong place at the right time, and looking for those places... I'm no hero, but "all it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing."

I'd rather die trying to defend my life than huddle in the corner like a sheep... I'm not about to run into a hail of bullets while screaming at the top-o-my lungs... but if you have opportunity to make a difference between your family escaping and unknown other families escaping and you choose to run, you're not someone who's welcome at my house.

I was at Cabella's yesterday and they had 20 SKS with bayonet for $200. So getting one would have been pretty easy....
Fort Worth, TX 76177

They were in very good shape and the bayonet was new, attached and it folds under the stock for storage.
they also have some WASR-10's for $429.
