I own 4 Glocks: G-23 - 3500 rounds, G-17 - 5050 rounds, G-21 - 2350 rounds, and a G-36 - 1150 rounds. That's what, about 15,000 rounds in all. Not one jam or any other problem at all.
I do have a little KelTec P32 but I've only had a couple of hundred round through it but so far so good.
I also have a Ruger MarkII with about 6,000 round through it with no problem.
Call me lucky.

I favor the Sig 229 in .357 Sig. Bottleneck rounds feed really well, Texas
D.P.S. Highway Patrol found the sig round to be extremely reliable in their
testing. I have owned and fired 3 different 229s and 2 other pistols, XD and
Steyr in this caliber with no malfunctions. I am a little nervous about carrying a Glock with a loaded chamber......Back up? Aren't Texans supposed to carry (at least) 2 guns........

This has been said many times before, but this is largely an issue of personal preference, assuming:
1. You buy a reputable gun (subjective, yes, but there are lots).
2. You maintain it properly.
3. You follow the manufacturer's instructions.
4. You break them in properly, if needed (small Kel-Tecs are a good example).
This is general stuff, certainly not all-inclusive. With that said, here's my inventory and their performance, which I realize isn't a high number of rounds fired:
S&W Sigma 40VE = 500 rounds, perfect
Beretta CX4 .40 (not a CC gun, but oh well) = 300 rounds, perfect
Beretta PX4 -F .40 = 300 rounds, perfect
S&W M&P 9c = 250 rounds, perfect
Kel-Tec P3AT = 500 rounds, one FTE on the first mag, perfect since
Llama Micromax .380 = perfect with roundball, jams anything else. It's a mini 1911 and darn fun to shoot, but accuracy sucks. 'Nuff said.

I have seen Glocks, HK, Sigs and Berettas run 100% with zero malfunctions. I am a Beretta fan and mine have always run 100%. It is definitely hard to tell what pistol is the absolute most reliable out there since there can be flaws in springs or a rough edge on a mag follower......there is always something. Still, I have every bit of confidence that A HK USP, Beretta PX4 or 92, Sig 226, Gllock or any other flagship pistol would be completely reliable enough for me to carry. I would love to see what happens when all of the major gun makers get together and make one super pistol. That is one project where I would like to be a fly on the wall.
On the other hand, I have seen Glocks, Berettas, Sigs, HK and others jam. break and kaboom. Things happen but they don`t sway my opinions of the firearms I buy.

Yeah, when I was a kid (a very long time ago) I used to use them often but the rubber bands kept breaking and smacking me in the face so I bought a 410/22 over and under. I don't recall it ever malfunctioning. In fact, now that I think about it, my simple little Remington single shot or my 410/22 over & under (brand unknown ?) were such simple devises that I didn't even know guns ever malfunctioned back then.dukalmighty wrote:I'm thinking slingshot, wasn't there some scrawny kid killed a giant with one back in the day
Also, when I was that age, we used to shoot at each other with sling shots but we instintively knew better than to shoot at each other when we graduated to small firearms. And, despite what some people say, it wasn't me that killed that giant. It was some kid over on the next block!
