Renewal question for Vets
My CHL is up for renewal this year. I have previously sent in a copy of my DD214 for both my CHL and TXDL, and both are marked as such. After completing the online renewal process the checklist requires submitting a copy of my 214 again. This certainly seems unnecessary, but of course I don't want to slow down the process. Has anyone else not sent this in, in the same situation? I emailed the DPS to clarify, I'm just curious to hear from others here in the same situation.

I did not submit my DD214 at renewal last time. Guess what... Not Veteran Printed on the new card.

Re: Renewal question for Vets
I did not resubmit my DD214 when I renewed in 2018 and my LTC does say Veteran. Perhaps the difference is the new style LTC card.

My last renewal was 2020. Did not resubmit DD214. New card still has "VETERAN".

Re: Renewal question for Vets
I just did the renewal online today. It DID ask for my DD-214 again so I had to pull it out of the safe and scan it. Funny because I’m sure when I renewed in 2016 I didn’t have to send it. And I did get the discount and have the designator on my DL and LTC.

Re: Renewal question for Vets
Any recent data points on resubmitting th DD214? From My checklist email
TxDPS will attempt to use the Texas DL/ID photo and resubmit the fingerprints on file for your renewal application. If either of these items does not meet current quality standards, TxDPS will notify the applicant and a new submission will be required.
Copy of DD-214 (Member-4), OR Any other official documentation showing the applicant is honorably discharged or retired military
My currently expired LTC and DL both has the Veteran tag on them.

Re: Renewal question for Vets
I renewed my Veteran LTC in September. Did not re-submit my DD-214. The new LTC has Veteran on it.

I did not track the time. It was about 3 to 4 weeks.

Re: Renewal question for Vets
I renewed in June. They asked for DD214. I keep a PDF of all my IDs handy, so no big deal. New plastic in 2 weeks.
