KPRC 2 Investigates uncovered street takeovers and parking lot mayhem are not uncommon. They happen on almost a nightly basis in neighborhoods all across the Houston area.

Houston will turn into Chicago at just about the same time its population count overtakes Chicago as third largest U.S. city. I only pray that it isn't already beyond the point of no return.

My only knowledge of Houston is that my son lives in Pearland. It appears the shootings took place in Southeast and Southwest Houston. If Houston is anything like Dallas, South tends to be where the majority of shootings occur. The couple fighting before she got ran over reminded me of something similar that happened here in Plano several years ago. Couple got into fight. He stops at the top of an overpass going over a major freeway and throws her off the bridge into oncoming traffic. If I remember right, he then jumped off himself.

This could go in self defense reports, however, if you read the story you may have your doubts as well.

Man parked, eating lunch, when there is an attempted car jacking. He shoots and kills both carjackers. So far so good.

Pearland is pretty safe. Pretty much anything outside of Harris County is pretty safe. There are exceptions. Pearland, sugarland, woodlands, Katy all of the surrounding "burbs" are good. There are places inside Houston like Bellaire, River Oaks, and Hunters Creek are all good but of course average home prices start 1 mill plus.

Art Acevedo Leaving Houston, Will Now Be Miami's Problem...er, Miami's Police Chief

HOUSTON — Chief Art Acevedo is leaving the Houston Police Department to become the Chief of Police in Miami, KHOU has learned.

Acevedo sent an email out to the department Sunday night, saying he's going to be formally introduced as the new Miami chief on Monday.

That should happen at a news conference scheduled in Miami for 9 a.m. Houston time.

That's a pretty classy way to exit: send out an email to your staff Sunday night telling them you're in Miami and to watch the news conference at 9 a.m. Monday. Well, don't let the door hit you in the gluteus maximus on the way out, buddy, and please consider removing Texas from your future travel destinations.

I'd be more excited about the removal of this career politician disguised as a law enforcement officer if it weren't for the fact that I give Sylvester Turner about a 1% chance of replacing Acevedo with anybody who'll be much better. But at least I won't have to watch any more press conferences by Art "I Should Really be the Mayor, You Know" Acevedo.
