India is challenging the US for first place, not a good sign for India. But the big change is Europe. They have shown a big new wave. Even Russia and Sweden are reporting more cases. France has gone way up. South Africa still remains low. In the US cases have gone up but cases in Texas Florida and California have gone down. I have added Wisconsin to the list, bad news for them. China did not report any deaths in the last 15 days. Houston has 16 deaths a day. US and Texas hospitalizations are up, US patients on ventilators is up and is now plus 20 a day.

So if we think that the patient would have lived if they didn't have Covid, then the death was caused by Covid.Rob72 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 27, 2020 2:12 pm
"Not-news." Concomitant heart conditions, diabetes, etc., and co-infection with influenza, pneumonia, etc., are correctly listed as "Covid" mortalities if the underlying condition(s) is stable, and/or the co-infection would have been unlikely to cause death at baseline. Both sides are being played by reporting agencies.
But if we think that the patient would have lived if they didn't have a different condition, then the death was still caused by Covid????
How do you count a Covid positive, asymptomatic, individual who dies in a car wreck? Is that death still "caused" by Covid?
All this means is that the official count of "Covid deaths" is useless to understand the real impact of this pandemic. The better measure is total deaths if we are really trying to understand how many more deaths have happened as a result of this virus as well al the lockdowns, etc.
Re: Corona Virus (COVID-19)( SARS-CoV-2) from China: Its going to be bad.
The main thing about Pfizer is that it's going to be difficult to distribute on a large scale. The stuff requires storage at minus 100 degrees. So you won't be able to go down and get a shot at Walgreens; it'll have to be at some really high-end hospital facility or something like that.

The funds taken for development are irrelevant. A proverbial "drop in the bucket" for a large pharma company. There were likely some strings attached to the development funds that Pfizer chose to avoid. The real key to rapid development was: (1) the administration clearing the FDA, HHS, etc. bureaucratic hurdles to development and human testing. (2) the administration allowing and contracting for advance manufacturing and distribution of the most promising candidates. Pfizer already took $2 billion from the feds to produce up to 100,000,000 doses for the US, and they may get more for the distribution. I am also familiar with the distribution program that was a public/private partnership driven by the Trump admin. One of the US Army's top logistics generals was put in charge. I have worked previously on programs overseen by him and his command and they are some of the world's top logisticians. No way Pfizer pulls this off without the US government's help regardless of whether they took the development money. The narrative being set is purely political and being set to curry favor with the "left".Rob72 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 09, 2020 9:52 amPfizer has not taken any Fed funds, and yes, it is a good product.
