I love that barrel size and -2 is just great. Great piece you’ve got there. So...lock vs pre-lock...I’d say pre-lock

“Did he fire 5 or 6...” love it. You have a really nice Smith collection!

I’m just a sucker for older Smiths. There’s just something about them.

I have had a 27-2 for a while and just picked up a 28-2. Time to get a 29-2 and keep the sequence going.

I love the pinned and recessed Smiths but I have shot many different J, L and N frames with the lock and can't say I've noticed a massive difference between lock and no lock.

The looks of the lock don't bug me that much. Would I prefer not to have it? Yes but it wouldn't stop me from buying say a 610 or 686+.

Pictures of my babies.

Thanks. If I were to buy one again today, I’d probably buy a 5” 629 for the easier maintenance of stainless steel. But I prefer the look of that really dark bluing, and I think that 5” is about the perfect barrel length for a general purpose .44 mag—long enough to develop velocity, but short enough to still be "handy".
