Georgetown Hosptial 30.06?
I disarmed this morning upon entering the Georgetown Hospital System. I looked at the sign on the door, did not think it looked 100% legitimate, but decided I did not want any trouble as my main concern was getting inside to see my mother (see Prayer Requests & Updates page). I don't have access to my camera cord right now, but when I get home, I will add a picture of the sign to this thread. Just wondering if there is one and only one form of the 30.06 notice or if there are stipulations, etc. I can't remember right this moment, but it said something to the tune of "Pursuant to Texas Penal Code 30.06, no weapons are allowed on the premises... (something, something, something)... even if carried with a concealed weapons license."
Thoughts?

Sounds like it may be at least close to the verbiage, if not the actual. It also has to have the statute in Spanish and be 1 inch contrasting letters.Snake Doctor wrote:I disarmed this morning upon entering the Georgetown Hospital System. However, most folks will tell you if it looks like a 30.06 sign, and smells like a 30.06 sign, even if it isn't a valid one, you are probably best to obey it anyway.
Good luck to your Mom. Our prayers are with you guys!

I have to disagree. You may beat the rap, but not the ride. I know the officer that works there (GPD) and would not try it. I have seen Gtown Healthcare which is now St. Davids listed on a no carry website.Kalrog wrote:I actually disagree. If it isn't legal it isn't legal and I carry.

The website http://www.texas3006.com found listed here on this website confirms a 30.06 sign at Georgetown Hospital. I'm sorry, I have worked in the criminal justice field for over 15 yrs and I am still not paranoid enough to chance carry into a hospital that may or may not be legally signed. Apparently it is legally signed according to the website. I will have to look next time I am there and take a pic.

To the best of my knowledge... no it is not an academic medical institution. And the "teaching hospital" think has been debated here before - I came down on the "not a school" side of it.razoraggie wrote:But isn't Georgetown an academic medical institution? If so, it would make it illegal no matter what the wording. Same as UTMB or Baylor if I'm not mistaken.
Neither of these have case law AFAIK.

I forgot to get a picture of the sign at the GT hospital, but I know it was too small and not in Spanish. Today my mother was transferred to the Round Rock hospital (still graciously accepting those prayers) and I managed to get a photo of what I am SURE is a legitimate 30.06 posting.

Close but not quite in the black. This is the required wording:
- JimPursuant to Section 30.06, Penal Code (trespass by holder of license to carry a concealed handgun), a person licensed under Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code (concealed handgun law), may not enter this property with a concealed handgun";
Are you talking about the Article 4413 stuff or the fact that 'license' is mis-spelled?seamusTX wrote:Close but not quite in the black. Seriously, even with the shortcomings, I think crossing this sign will likely get you a free trip to the holding cell.
