The virus is a military-grade pathogen. It is let loose from a top secret bio-warefare labs. When the President of China is concerned, it means a big cat is gone. (out of control)
It escaped or was let loose. I find it hard to believe that this came from eating bats when there is a class 4 biological facility just miles down the road from the supposed area where this started. How many people are in China? 1.5 billion give or take a few. So out of 1.5 billion you quarantine 60 million after less than 1000 got sick? What I do know is you can trust the Chinese government less than our own government so I don't believe a thing the China media is telling the world. At least the people of Hong Kong are not protesting any more (that we know of).
Now we learn it can spread before there are symptoms but the government is putting in screening stations at airports to screen people for symptoms. Yeah that is the answer. The truth is we won't know how bad this is yet for another week or so. It will take that long for others infected throughout the world to start showing symptoms to see if it has been spreading. It will spread in China and other 3rd world countries more than here. If you have ever been over there, every city seems like New York city. A lot of people. A lot of people who do not have the personal hygiene we do and a lot of people who do not comprehend personal space. The airports and train stations are like being in the middle of a crowd at a rock concert. Maybe not that bad but they stand a lot closer than we (or maybe its just me) are accustomed to. The Chinese cannot even drink their own tap water. Or at least the people I was with over there did not drink tap water. Combine that with a highly mobile society, and things like this can spread rapidly. The latest report is 5 million people went out of Wuhan before the quarantine went into affect. If it's going to spread, we will find out.
If it were let loose on purpose, there are a few reasons I can think of for the Chinese government to do so. They could be trying to kill our economy (it would kill their's too), population control to get rid of older people, testing to see how good this works, or to get the people in Hong Kong under control without having to send in the military. I know every one of these also hurts the Chinese government but they really do not care because for Communist, the ends justify the means. We will probably never know truly how this started or the number of people it kills in China.
My Captain Trips comments from "The Stand" were partially sarcastic. My faith in our government being truthful is also very low.
In certain extreme situations, the law is inadequate. In order to shame its inadequacy, it is necessary to act outside the law to pursue a natural justice.
