Does this mean the United States won't complain when Iran targets US political leaders in response?
Complain? Who knows, escalate probably! U.S. can bring far more varied and powerful weapons than Iran can! They should quit while they can!
I don’t entirely disagree, but consider histories, capabilities, and methods..... the Iranians who have most to fear from America's war-making capabilities and methods are Iran’s leadership and military. The Americans who have the most to fear from Iran’s war-making capabilities and methods are average American civilian citizens. Our nation fights wars primarily through normal military channels. Iran fights wars by proxy through terrorist organizations. We kill enemy combatants, they kill civilians.
Whether or not a war with Iran is winnable (in purely military terms, it absolutely is), and whether or not it’s advisable (that’s legitimately open to question....as should be ANY war), we shouldn’t ignore histories, capabilities, and methods. If they bring even a small terror capability to our shores, it is civilians who’ll pay the price, more so than our military.
I don’t say this to argue one way or the other about a war with Iran. I say it only to caution all of us against getting salty without a thought for consequences.
