This is not all that bad. He probably won't make it the whole three years on probation without getting caught doing something stupid and violating his probation. He'll get random drug and alcohol testing during that time also. Maybe he'll fail one and get a longer probation time (probably won't go to jail). But he'll live this entire three years looking over his shoulder.

I don't think I had anything in mind for a punishment myself. Jail time probably isn't that great of an idea for this, but didn't he already spend some time in jail?

I also didn't read anything about a fine. I wonder how much he spent on legal fees.
