Benchmade Osborne 940!!!

2nd, I carry this same knife.

Benchmade customer service is second to none. I had a benchmade 9050 that I had sharpened so much, I had seriousl decresed the size of the blade. When I sent it in to ask how much for a new blade, they just sent me a new knife for free.

Kershaw leek is what I carry now. The speed safe assisted open on this knife is awesome, you have to try one out for yourself. I think I paid about $40 for it at my local academy.

Columbia River Knife and Tool Carson M18-02 with three-inch blade and blade release lock. Got this discontinued model $85 folder on sale for $25 recently. Very high quality steel that will split a hair on demand.

I have carried a Kershaw Whirlwind for about 6 years. I am on my 3rd knife though because I have lost a couple of them over the years.

I lost my Columbia River M16 http://crkt.com/m16alumn.html last week when my panniers fell off the back of my bike. I just replaced it with the Columbia River My Tighe http://crkt.com/mytighe.html CRKT isn't the absolute best out there, but I really like them for one of (if not the) best values out there. Especially when I was able to find the My Tighe (MSRP of $90) for $35.

I did a search for pocket knives on the site, and stumbled across this thread.

Thanks to it, I just picked up a Kershaw Ken Onion Leek, the 1660CKT model. I needed a good knife for work, opening boxes and stuff, and figured I might as well invest in a good one I can just carry around on me all the time.

If today is any indication, I'll be using mine for years to come. Used it to cut some heavy duty packing tape on boxes at work today, and it didn't even stop for the tape. After my first cut, I had to go back and check that I was cutting in the right place. That thing is sharp as heck right out of the box!! Loved it.

I have a Benchmade Bali-Song that I like, however they haven't made this specific model in a while. It is a quality knife, but pretty slow for me to open. It is a thumbhole assist only.

Per some of the posts here I did a little research on the Mini Rukus. That seems like a very nice knife. I would not mind having one at all.

I picked up a Kalashnikov Auto last year, and just found this thread. I now realize that the Kalashnikov auto is an illegal knife. I bought it at the last TRA meet in Mesquite. I guess I'll start looking for a new carry knife. Perhaps one of those Benchmades.

FWIW, I have had two Gerber Paraframe I with semi-serrated blade, and I like them a whole lot. They are very solid, perfect shape/size blade and compact and lightweight to carry in a pocket. I also have a Gerber Evo Jr. and I like it a whole lot too, but it's fatter and doesn't carry as easily in a pocket. I carry it in my bag all of the time. I have had some other Gerber knives and tools that were of varying quality.

But I have to give a plug to the Lansky Guide Rod Hone kit. The difference between a great knife and the rest is how it is sharpened, IMHO, and the Lansky kit is the way to do it. I do my Gerber folders at 25 degrees with the medium hone. My kitchen knives get 20 degrees with the fine hone. I have found that learning to properly sharpen my knives with this system has made all of the difference in the world. Don't know how I went so long without one of these. I get a new knife and the first thing I do is re-sharpen it.
