I may regret getting in the middle here, but the point was so crystal clear and humorous that it defies belief that it was not understood.Bitter Clinger wrote: ↑Mon Jun 04, 2018 1:37 pmYou and Dale bash Trump every single posting. This is so obviously a lie it really isn't worth quoting but it is another example of personal attacks when nothing else is available.bbhack wrote: ↑Mon Jun 04, 2018 1:41 pmI may regret getting in the middle here, but the point was so crystal clear and humorous that it defies belief that it was not understood.Bitter Clinger wrote: ↑Mon Jun 04, 2018 1:37 pmYou and Dale bash Trump every single posting. Pointing out that someone is pretending to not follow (tactically obtuse) is neither a lie nor a personal attack. Addressing a tactic is not a personal attack.dale blanker wrote: ↑Mon Jun 04, 2018 2:09 pm This is so obviously a lie it really isn't worth quoting but it is another example of personal attacks when nothing else is available.

I see. I post a statement made by trump today, one I feel is foolish, ignorant of the law, and would set a precedent that should not be tolerated by any individual interested in upholding the constitution. Your reply was to make a personal attack and change the subject, rather than make an attempt that explains trumps fallacious statement. Now somehow I'm the one bashing trump for simply repeating his own words? That's not hypocrisy, no matter how you slice it. Condemning clinton or obama for something and then remaining silent when trump plays the same game... that would be hypocrisy. Failing to call out the ridiculous when you hear it... that's hypocrisy combined with self-delusion.Bitter Clinger wrote: ↑Mon Jun 04, 2018 1:37 pmYou and Dale bash Trump every single posting. Re: Today in Trump's new term as President
The Constitution gives the president clemency powers “to grant reprieves and pardons for offenses against the United States, except in cases of impeachment.” By bestowing a pardon on someone who committed a federal crime, the president nullifies the legal consequences of that crime. So, the majority view is that a president can pardon himself (assuming he does so prior to impeachment). Art. II Sec. 2 of the Constitution states, in part, that the president shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment.philbo wrote: ↑Mon Jun 04, 2018 2:39 pmI see. Your posts, along with those of your fellow traveler, are universally and consistently biased against the current President. Man up and admit it, instead of hiding behind that faux wall of self righteous virtue. Its concealment, but its not cover. You are fooling no one but yourself.

Hardly the majority view except perhaps in the white house, but I applaud your more reasoned discourse.Bitter Clinger wrote: ↑Mon Jun 04, 2018 3:48 pmThe Constitution gives the president clemency powers “to grant reprieves and pardons for offenses against the United States, except in cases of impeachment.” By bestowing a pardon on someone who committed a federal crime, the president nullifies the legal consequences of that crime. It's true that the possibility of a President pardoning himself for a crime is not precluded by the explicit language of the Constitution, and, during the summer of 1974, some of President Richard M. Nixon's lawyers argued that it was constitutionally permissible. But a broader reading of the Constitution and the general principles of the traditions of United States law might lead to the conclusion that a self-pardon is constitutionally impermissible. It would seem to violate the principles that a man should not be a judge in his own case; that the rule of law is supreme and the United States is a nation of laws, not men; and that the President is not above the law. An otherwise legal act done for improper/corrupt reasons, is the very definition of an impeachment charge.
I have never hid my dislike for trump. Never will. The man seems ignorant of the Constitution and attempts at every turn to dismantle and mock our system of checks and balances. To turn a deaf ear to news you don't want to hear, and treat everyone who disagrees with your world view as an enemy, is something I have always disliked about most democrats... but you seem to proof that anyone can don that suit of clothing and wear it well.Bitter Clinger wrote: ↑Mon Jun 04, 2018 3:48 pmYour posts, along with those of your fellow traveler, are universally and consistently biased against the current President. Re: Today in Trump's new term as President
If the House and the Senate wish to impeach and convict a sitting president, there is nothing he can do about it. Any talk of "self-pardon" is complete nonsense. A president cannot be charged by any other means while in office. If things went off the rails, and he did get charged by a rogue grand jury during his tenure, he could pardon himself - because the charging would be unconstitutional, and because he can pardon anyone he wants of criminal conviction.
Clear?
He may want to be careful while in office, because he won't be president forever. We are going to see Obama charged with something.

This discussion about presidential indictments and pardons is all very academic. It's an interesting discussion but why is it even happening? There's no evidence of collusion with a foreign government or obstruction of justice and Mueller should stop with the implications. Oh wait, it's not Mueller...

Exactly what crime did the president commit that would warrant him to grant himself a pardon?
In certain extreme situations, the law is inadequate. In order to shame its inadequacy, it is necessary to act outside the law to pursue a natural justice.

Lying to the FBI? Lying to the special council?

Which is why he shouldn't testify. They'll ask him a question about something he said 12 months ago, he won't quite remember and then the goons will say he lied.
Special council is suppose to be appointed by someone higher than the deputy AG. Also, he is suppose to have specific statutes and areas to investigate, not an all encompassing witch hunt. Mueller's appointment as a special council is unconstitutional and any indictment should be thrown out.

Trump cancels Philadelphia Eagles White House visit. Apparently only 7 were going to show up.
Tweeted about locker room sitting out National Anthem. Going to have a band play the National Anthem instead.
Apparently Eagles one of few teams that did not have a player take a knee.
I’m still going to continue NFL boycott.
Big made up controversy on whether Trump can pardon himself. Trump continues to dominate the news cycle.

Re: Today in Trump's new term as President
President Donald Trump has many weaknesses and faults, as do I as a member of the fallen human race. President Trump consistently, in my opinion, plays and beats the left every day by being himself and not a man whose life has been as a typical swamp politician.
I get you constant critics, President Trump doesn’t meet your high standards of decorum and doesn’t play by the political rules you’ve gotten accustomed to seeing from those who aren’t progressive socialists. So, go ahead and bash him daily if it makes you feel good about yourself and those who agree with you. I understand that you would rather be discussing the daily news about President Hillary Clinton.
For me, I’m seeing it like the writer of this linked article.

The left lies about everything. Truth is a liberal value, and truth is a conservative value, but it has never been a left-wing value. People on the left say whatever advances their immediate agenda. Power is their moral lodestar; therefore, truth is always subservient to it. - Dennis Prager
