Shooter dead.

Unconfirmed Twitter reports saying many have died.

So sad.

This is near San Antonio.

My Prayers to the victims and their friends and families.

That is precisely the reason I carry in church. It could happen anywhere.

This being Texas, I am very surprised that no one in that congregation was carrying. I have done several classes at churches, and those people, and their pastors, were very upfront about encouraging carry in church. One church actually insisted that there always be someone armed in the children's building.

If a town of 400 in Texas is not safe, then no one is. Carry everyday or guess right.

Watching Fox News coverage. Anchor Arthel Neville is an idiot. She is all over the evil gun , not the shooter.

I agree - CC in church is a very good thing. It used to be difficult for me to carry due to the size of my gun and being on stage, so I had to depend on my wife carrying in her purse. Now that I have a little Ruger LCP that I can fit in my pocket I carry all the time. I carried today and you'd never have known. Sure is sad that no one in that Sutherland Springs church was carrying.

I’m not seeing this church in the Texas 30.06 database as posted either.
This would be one of the very few exceptions of a madman doing this somewhere other than a “gun free zone”.

Incidents like this make me very angry. I'm angry because an evil person was able to cause so much death and heartache for so many people, and I can't do a thing about it. I know the folks on this forum are very good at getting information on horrible incidents like this. I really would like to know if that church was posted.

Never do these quotes from Col. Jeff Cooper ring so true as in times like these:
If violent crime is to be curbed, it is only the intended victim who can do it. The felon does not fear the police, and he fears neither judge nor jury. Therefore what he must be taught to fear is his victim.
and
An unarmed man can only flee from evil, and evil is not overcome by fleeing from it.
and
The only acceptable response to the threat of lethal violence is immediate and savage counterattack. If you resist, you just may get killed. If you don't resist you almost certainly will get killed. It is a tough choice, but there is only one right answer.

Praying for this church, pastor, and victims. This is very sad. Many people in my church carry and I encourage it frequently from the pulpit. It doesn’t take long though for someone to pop in and open fire.

I am saddened but also shocked that there was not one or more concealed carry folks in attendance. I see no way a rural church like this was posted. Of course more will come out in time.

Yeah, another reason for Democrats and Republicans to work together towards disarming the citizenry.
The left lies about everything. Truth is a liberal value, and truth is a conservative value, but it has never been a left-wing value. People on the left say whatever advances their immediate agenda. Power is their moral lodestar; therefore, truth is always subservient to it. - Dennis Prager
