I hadn't considered that. When the CNN analyst said it was a fully automatic and maybe even belt-fed weapon, I laughed and immediately disregarded it as CNN being....well, CNN. But then I saw the video and I agreed - it did sound like a machine gun. I hadn't considered slide or bump fire. :headscratch

Right. So its not like he carried all that up in his backpack in one trip just before it started. How did the hotel miss this? Somebody either screwed up big time or was bought off. This is bigger than this one guy.
He could have easily made several trips to the room with the guns in a covered golf bag which is a very common item of luggage for Vegas, and wouldn't have been out of the ordinary. The mags and ammo would have fit in standard suitcases.

I'm curious as to what weapon(s) he was using. Definitely sounds like automatic fire. They are saying the distance was 1,700 feet, so almost 600 yards. And it sounded to me like it was more than 30 rounds between reloads.

To me, it sounded like the rate of fire changed from fast to slower, then back to faster. Almost like hearing a Gatling gun. Slide or bump fire might make sense.

I figured the rifles were in a golf bag. Probably kept the do not disturb sign out the entire time.

Eye witnesses on TV are saying the hotel is three football fields from the venue. No one could tell where the shots were coming from. Echoing between the buildings. Many thought it was a helicopter taking off at first. I heard the gunfire sounds on TV. It sounded to me like automatic weapon fire. First shot at the front of the crowd from the first window. Then went around the corner shooting at the only apparent exit through a second window. Witness said sand was flying in their faces from the bullets bouncing off the pavement around them.

The last mass shooting in Florida at the bar, the venue did not meet the building code for proper exits. This led to an increased loss of life. A venue with 20,000 people would require 4 distinct separated places of exit to meet the fire code. They cannot be near each other. I wonder if this requirement was met?

I sent a letter to the Lt. Governor after the Florida mass murder and the lack of proper exits and the danger that exists in Texas music venues, but I did not get a response.

First and foremost, my heart and prayers go out to the victims and their families. The sheer horror that fell upon them in it's evil insanity is unimaginable.

Many thoughts come to mind, but the first is evil. Pure, sick, evil of the worst kind. Was he mentally unstable? Was he schizophrenic or bi polar? Maybe a brainwashed sleeper that was triggered? Conspiracy theories will abound in the coming days. One report I read said he had rented the room on Thursday three days prior. That suggest a fair amount of planning and premeditation. One report claims police found 10 rifles in the room. Perhaps he was swapping weapons, which might explain the differences in rate of fire. Some might have been rigged for bump fire or slide fire. You certainly would not have to be very accurate when shooting at that large of an area from 600+ yards away.

I sincerely hope that the truth about his motives is discovered and reported, not covered up by governmental agencies with an agenda who spin the narrative to their liking.

I am glad police were able to stop the shooter. This is a good reminder that anything can happen anywhere and at any time. This a prime example on why we should carry at all times if possible. Carrying a gun isn’t always comfortable but it’s a comfortable thought even though having a gun doesn’t make us invincible or an automatic survivor it at least gives us a fighting chance.
I agree with this sentiment but this also made me realize that sometimes, we're purely at the mercy of pure evil.
Carrying at this concert would have done nothing for any of the victims. He was shooting from an elevated position out of a window. You'd have to be carrying a very nice rifle...

Anyway, prayers for the victims and our country. The new 'discussion' that is about to begin is not going to be enjoyable.
A rifle would not have helped. This is not Ramadi and none of us is Chris Kyle. Cover was limited, the size of the crowd and the area enclosed by walls and fencing made running extremely difficult. Best training you could have is in emergency treating for gunshot wounds and best thing you could carry would be a trauma / blowout kit.
That was more tongue-in-cheek. I didn't mean it literally. The point of my post is that at times, there's nothing you can do to escape evil.

I thought slide fire. The cadence of fire seems irregular, doesn’t sound like a true full auto. I suppose it doesn’t really matter. Whether perpetrated with guns, knives, bombs or trucks; the real weapon is evil. There will be dark times ahead as selfish ignorant people cloud issues for political positioning. It will make us sick on many levels. I have already heard some politicizing on the news this morning.

I cannot imagine the pain of all affected by this murderous act.

58 dead, 500 wounded.

My heart goes out to the victims and their families. The photo on Drudge shows two bloodied fallen victims. Both young women. Such an evil man. Sickens me to think someone can do this with such premeditation and advance planning.

"Islamic State has claimed responsibility for a shooting that killed at least 50 people and wounded over 400 in Las Vegas early on Monday, and said the attacker had converted to Islam a few months ago."

The Las Vegas attack was carried out by a soldier of the Islamic State and he carried it out in response to calls to target states of the coalition," the group's news agency Amaq said in reference to the U.S.-led coalition fighting the group in the Middle East.

"The Las Vegas attacker converted to Islam a few months ago," Amaq added."

There you go.

Any NFL brave morons gonna take a knee for this?

For at least the next three, four days the media and net will be swamped with fake news.

This was Reuters reporting. Anywho, believe what you want, Country music festival, calculated attack planned over several days at least, his female companion was caught apparently out of Country (still don't know where), smells like convert to me. Unless proven otherwise.

Perhaps there was more than one shooter, but the dead guy was the one left behind to take the fall. Vegas has cameras everywhere, so there should be plenty of hotel and casino video to be reviewed by FBI and other LE determining who/what/when/where to try to figure out why.

And the possibility of a false flag event perpetrated by the deep state cannot be ignored. The left is evil and will stop at nothing to remove our rights to keep and bear arms.
The left lies about everything. Truth is a liberal value, and truth is a conservative value, but it has never been a left-wing value. People on the left say whatever advances their immediate agenda. Power is their moral lodestar; therefore, truth is always subservient to it. - Dennis Prager

If you think my previous comment about the left being evil is excessive, then consider this:

http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/20 ... icans.html
A top lawyer for CBS said she is “not even sympathetic” to victims of the Las Vegas shooting because “country music fans often are Republican,” when discussing the tragic mass shooting that occurred in Las Vegas late Sunday night.
