Throw in another scenerio. Son in law is LEO. happened to him.
Call of domestic dispute in parking lot, man with knife threatning a woman. SOL pulls up draws weapon man drops knife and is handcuffed. Woman leaves. Witnesses (12) said man took knife from woman trying to stab him.

I'm also more than willing to help with the costs of such a class. I live 4 hours west and just north of the metroplex area, that would be an easy trip for me to make. Wife says she can go shopping while I am learning !
