Does anyone else think that all this unrest is taking a very dark and serious tone? Now you have Hollywood celebrities and Democrat politicians applauding last night's riot at Berzerkley and others calling for a military coup. The unhinged leftist, marxist agitators make me concerned about potential growing clashes as the sides become more and polarized and the left gets more violent.

California is really pushing every button they can. Something will have to be done, not sure what, but something. I hope that once they get a reality check, the other's will see it and want no part of it. What is alarming to me is the year 2020. If we don't keep a firm grip, we could loose it all if the Left get in there. THAT will be scary.

Publisher's Weekly reported yesterday that the #1 selling book in the country after 10 days' of the Trump Presidency is...wait for it...wait for it...George Orwell's 1984.

Print sales of the Signet Classics edition of 1984 for the week ended Jan. 29 were almost 26,000 copies at outlets that report to NPD BookScan, making it the biggest selling book in the week. Sales the previous week were about 4,500 copies.

"In one week, Signet Classics has reprinted 500,000 copies of 1984," Signet v-p and executive publicity director Craig Burke said. "That’s [over twice what] we sell in a typical year."

I saw an article about that yesterday. If I find it, I'll post a link. The article was running down exactly why the dystopia of 1984 has absolutely no bearing on the Trump presidency. It looked at the government structure being completely different, different social structure, and different policies. The author said the one we should be looking at more is Huxley's Brave New World. I didn't get to finish reading the article, and I haven't read Brave New World, so I can't really comment on that part. What I got to read was pretty interesting though.

Speaking of being critical, that is exactly what Trump was doing when talking to Turnbull. Trump was being critical of a one-sided deal that has the US accepting refugees that Australia does not want and will not accept. If they will not accept them, why should we?

Developments in the last two days are perfect examples.

Last May, President Obama directed schools--all public schools and most colleges and universities that receive federal funds--to provide transgender students with access to bathrooms and locker rooms that match their chosen gender identity. The order specifically put institutions on notice that they stood to lose federal funding if they did not comply. Liberals applauded roundly. Conservatives questioned his legal right to issue such an order.

The University of California at Berkeley--a supposed bastion of free speech in academia--invited Breitbart editor Yiannopoulos to speak. The result wasn't a peaceful protest, but a full-on riot where black-garbed and masked students destroyed property, set fires, and beat and pepper sprayed innocent onlookers.



Little was done by local authorities to quell the violence, and nothing done by the university. UC Berkeley receives $370 million in federal, taxpayer money, about 55% of it's operating budget. President Trump did not issue an executive order, did not attempt to take any action. What he did was post this simple question: "If UC Berkeley does not allow free speech and practices violence on innocent people with a different point of view – no federal funds?"

And now, this morning, a firestorm of screaming and fist-shaking from the left. It's virtually all you see on CNN and MSNBC: talking heads saying such removal of funds is unconstitutional (in the immortal words of Inigo Montoya: "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.") and that democrats and the universities are going to fight it tooth and nail. Now, less than 24 hours later, there are over 3 million Google News hits about President Trump pulling federal funding from UC Berkeley!

When there was never any order or action from the White House!

A judge appointed by George W. Bush has halted Trump's executive order temporarily banning immigrants from seven places an average American would not last 10 days. A flood of foreigners from those countries are arriving as we read this.

He previously ruled against the Police Union in Seattle and said during that pronouncement that "Black Lives Matter", noting that nationally 40% of people shot by the police are black, but represent only 20% of the population.

He did not mention that 40% of people in jail are black (no doubt due to racist judges). Blacks are only 13% of the population.

Trump rejoined his wife to host a charity party in Mar-a-largo today in Florida. No doubt he will be back at work on Monday.

Given the crystal clear example of bias that Skiprr gave, it takes a special kind of obtuseness to call the existence of such bias bizarre. If any bigots, fools or slaves still don't get it, the fact that on November 7, every major poll predicted a win by Hillary should be a clue.
