California is really pushing every button they can. Something will have to be done, not sure what, but something. I hope that once they get a reality check, the other's will see it and want no part of it. What is alarming to me is the year 2020. If we don't keep a firm grip, we could loose it all if the Left get in there. THAT will be scary.
Just some guy's opinion.

I saw an article about that yesterday. If I find it, I'll post a link. The article was running down exactly why the dystopia of 1984 has absolutely no bearing on the Trump presidency. It looked at the government structure being completely different, different social structure, and different policies. The author said the one we should be looking at more is Huxley's Brave New World. I didn't get to finish reading the article, and I haven't read Brave New World, so I can't really comment on that part. What I got to read was pretty interesting though.

ETA: Found it. Maybe I can finish reading it later.

The progressive left is just projecting when they start bringing up 1984. It's easy to project one's own motives and intentions upon others.

I recommend Hillsdales Dialogues podcast. Some excellent listening. Check out the episodes discussing Huxley's Brave New World.

Just a little level-check. On January 20, Donald Trump took the oath of office. His first day in office was Saturday, January 21; so during his term so far have been two weekends. Tomorrow, he will have been POTUS for two weeks.

Man, I sure wish he had more energy and a stronger work ethic. After two weeks, you'd think he'd have some work done to show for it.

Nominating Gorsuch to SCOTUS was a winner but I suspect most of the rest was for show. "See my signature?" {how silly?]

I hope we haven't ticked off Britain, Mexico, or Australia.

All three of them need to be equally concerned about ticking the US off.

Speaking of being critical, that is exactly what Trump was doing when talking to Turnbull. Trump was being critical of a one-sided deal that has the US accepting refugees that Australia does not want and will not accept. If they will not accept them, why should we?

A little insight here. http://dailysignal.com/2017/02/03/lefto ... questions/?

Allies are like friends, sometimes they disagree. That does not mean they are enemies and no longer friends.

For the last eight years, anyone who was critical of former president Obama was branded as a racist. For the last two years, anyone who was critical Hillary's candidacy for president was presumed to be a misogynist.

Applying reason, one must conclude that there are two standards, one for democrats and another for republicans. Anyone who cannot understand that reasoning must be a bigot or a fool or a slave.

Developments in the last two days are perfect examples.

Last May, President Obama directed schools--all public schools and most colleges and universities that receive federal funds--to provide transgender students with access to bathrooms and locker rooms that match their chosen gender identity. The order specifically put institutions on notice that they stood to lose federal funding if they did not comply. Liberals applauded roundly. Conservatives questioned his legal right to issue such an order.

The University of California at Berkeley--a supposed bastion of free speech in academia--invited Breitbart editor Yiannopoulos to speak. The result wasn't a peaceful protest, but a full-on riot where black-garbed and masked students destroyed property, set fires, and beat and pepper sprayed innocent onlookers.

Image

Little was done by local authorities to quell the violence, and nothing done by the university. UC Berkeley receives $370 million in federal, taxpayer money, about 55% of it's operating budget. President Trump did not issue an executive order, did not attempt to take any action. What he did was post this simple question: "If UC Berkeley does not allow free speech and practices violence on innocent people with a different point of view – no federal funds?"

And now, this morning, a firestorm of screaming and fist-shaking from the left. It's virtually all you see on CNN and MSNBC: talking heads saying such removal of funds is unconstitutional (in the immortal words of Inigo Montoya: "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.") and that democrats and the universities are going to fight it tooth and nail. Now, less than 24 hours later, there are over 3 million Google News hits about President Trump pulling federal funding from UC Berkeley!

When there was never any order or action from the White House!

The blatant double standard would be knee-slappingly hilarious if it weren't so frightening in its implications.

http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing- ... nationwide

A judge appointed by George W. Bush has halted Trump's executive order temporarily banning immigrants from seven places an average American would not last 10 days. A flood of foreigners from those countries are arriving as we read this.

He previously ruled against the Police Union in Seattle and said during that pronouncement that "Black Lives Matter", noting that nationally 40% of people shot by the police are black, but represent only 20% of the population.

http://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-new ... m-hostage/

He did not mention that 40% of people in jail are black (no doubt due to racist judges). Blacks are only 13% of the population.

Trump rejoined his wife to host a charity party in Mar-a-largo today in Florida. No doubt he will be back at work on Monday.

Something about a foreigner coming here and starting trouble, pitting Americans against each other, just to sell books, just doesn't rub me the right way.

He doesn't care about America, because he's not American. It's no different than if the leader of ISIS came to America and tried to start riots and violence, to raise money for himself. I don't want a foreigner coming here and demanding 2nd Amendment rights either. They don't get em because they ARENT AMERICAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I understand. I get bugged by new users to this forum who come in with an agenda that has nothing to do with guns, Texas' LTC program or the 2nd amendment, yet rails against journalist exercising their 1st amendment rights because they are immigrants. I sense a troll.

Given the crystal clear example of bias that Skiprr gave, it takes a special kind of obtuseness to call the existence of such bias bizarre. If any bigots, fools or slaves still don't get it, the fact that on November 7, every major poll predicted a win by Hillary should be a clue.
