I answered "no" because I don't carry one on my person most of the time. I do carry a spare mag or two, but my primary gun has never failed on me, and any problem I can't solve with 32-49 rounds isn't likely to be solved with a few more. Still, I see no problem with doing so if you feel so inclined, and I have on occasion.

I don't always carry a BUG but when I do, it's an AR pistol in a backpack.

I was torn on how to answer but ended up saying yes.

I have a BUG (Sig P938) and a BUG BUG (S&W 360PD), but I don't carry either one 100% of the time. Then again, I also don't carry even my primary 100% of the time, so I interpreted the question as "Do you (ever) carry a BUG?" And I answered yes. If the question is "Do you (usually) carry a BUG?" the answer would have been no.

I have fairly high standards for reliability. I won't carry a gun that fails to go bang more than once every 200 to 300 rounds. But I also don't own a gun that has never failed me even once. Of course that is usually a rack, bang, fix. Sometimes a drop mag, rack, load new mag, bang, fix. But even my G19 has completely locked up on me once. Knowing my luck that once would happen again when I most needed it.

I also envision corner case scenarios where I am disarmed, and would like to have a backup. Maybe too many movies where the bad guy says "drop your gun or I'll shoot the kid."

Same. I don't carry it all the time, but often enough to not answer no.

I don't carry a BUG, my typical carry is my 1911 with one spare mag, that gives me 29rds on my person, if certain segments of our population started raging or terrorist attacks become common place as in europe then I would carry two spare mags which gives me 43rds on me, I have a .45 carbine in my truck with one 13rd mag and two 27rd mags so I feel like I can handle any situation I might be unfortunate enough to be in.

I tried carrying a BUG for one day.

A BUG is way too much iron and yes I'm completely familiar with it should be comforting not comfortable.

Wait, I do carry a knife with a gun (with a spare mag) and if cycling, I carry a pistol, a spare mag, a knife and pepper spray, so I guess it depends...

I do not.

If I'm just running an errand close to home, or walking the dog, I carry a small 9mm which holds ten rounds.

If I'm out farther afield, I carry a SIG SP2022 with 16 rounds.

If 16 rounds won't get me out of trouble, It's likely that another gun or more ammo won't either.

Yes, I do. And it's never had anything to do with the primary gun's reliability or number of rounds on board.

Carry a backup 95% of time. The only time I do not is due to clothing and lack of hiding space. When I do carry it is a bodyguard 380

Is keeping a second gun in the door side panel considered a BUG. I carry there on long or overnight road trips.

I carry a SD9VE as a primary and an original Ruger LCP in a pocket holster. I try to carry two guns at all times and I usually do a good job of doing that but some days when I am sweating outside or dressed up, I still have my LCP. I like pocket pistols because you can have your hand on your gun without anyonr knowing it. I keep my Glock 17 clone on my right side hip and my LCP in my left front pants pocket. Only thing I don't like is practicing with my LCP in my offhand, recoil is not too pleasant, I know there are spring kits that are supposed to reduce recoil but my LCP is very reliable as it it now. I also like the idea of being able to give a gun to a loved one or a friend if the situation arises, my gf does not carry but I have taught her firearms safety and she is familiar with my guns so if need be I can pass one off to her.
