Thank you much! It sucks having to be cautious about who knows but at the same time I don't want to alarm anyone with a decision that I've made for myself. I'm glad to hear that your hospice work allows you to protect yourself. I wish you luck in both your endeavors. Both are tough jobs. Safe travels!koine2002 wrote:
Welcome aboard. I understand your concern about your colleagues. I'm in academia as an adjunct and also work in the medical world as a hospice chaplain/spiritual counselor. Although, everyone at our hospice company carries since we do in-home hospice care & many of our patients live in very rough neighborhoods.

Re: Introduce yourself
22 (almost 23 in July) male here from the Austin area.
I am going to college for criminal justice and delivering pizza for Domino's.
I got my CHL about a year ago so not only am I new to the website, I'm relatively new to the carry world as well.
I bought my first handgun on my 21st birthday. A full-size M&P9 that I love. I got a White Hat MaxTuck holster for it, but being a smaller framed guy, it wasn't comfortable enough for me to carry everyday and harder to conceal in my truck while working. So I joined the Shield squad and carry it all day every day in a Bianchi 100 Professional, but I have a Miller Tactical Group kydex IWB holster on the way.
Oh and I'm single so all you ladies that carry

Re: Introduce yourself
I have been involved with firearms since I was a young kid. I got my first gun, a Winchester .22 LR single shot bolt action, when I was about ten years old. I was in the USMC for about 8 years too. I also worked as a Reserve Police Officer for the City of Fort Worth for a number of years too. I lived in Arizona the state I was born in and immigrated to Texas in 1983. I used to love to hunt and fish a lot when I was in AZ but after moving to TX I didn't get to do it as much then.

Re: Introduce yourself
New here. 'Started shooting at age 5 with my father. 'Started hunting at age 7 with my father. At age 9 I was sitting on a deer stand by myself. At age 12, Dad would drop me off at the deer lease and I hunted on my own. (Yes I know. This is child abuse by today's standards.)
In 1992 at the age of 28, I got serious about handguns. I bought my first serious armory grade handgun, a Glock 22 from Ron's Guns in Bossier City, LA. I have been a fan of the 180 Grain Winchester and later Hornady JHP loads since that time. At my age it's all about being content in life. I am content with my .40 caliber Glocks. They may not be the rage these days but I am accoustomed to them and am reasonably accurate as well.
After it became clear keeping terrorists out of America is not a priority for our national politicians, my wife and I decided to get our LTC's. I followed through and she did not. Now that I have done it, my whole idea about concealed carry has changed. I will do everything I can to avoid using my handgun in a self defense scenario. It is a last ditch measure to stop the threat and nothing more.
My Dad's side was in TX before it was a part of the U. S. They were Free Masons who heeded the calls of Bowie, Houston and others to come west. I love football, Barbecue and duck hunting. That's it for now. Thanks for having me.
