Can't seem to locate my original post to update, so I'll nutshell
All-in 3/26 (via website)
Confirmation same day
Website change on 5/4
Plastic in-hand corrected: not 5/but 5/6

Total 40 days approx; 28 workdays and 12 weekend days.

I must one of the lucky ones, I was quite surprised. Maybe my schmooze attempt played a part, dunno.

Good luck to all waiting, congrats to all have received. I'll be lurking to see. Above all be smart and be safe.

1/1 - Searching for and ordering a replacement DD-214
1/6 - Fingerprints - Found my DD-214 in my mortgage paperwork
1/15 - Received replacement DD-214
1/16 - Class
1/18 - Submitted everything
1/21 - Confirmation email
5/5 - Called DPS for status & told that the background had not been started, but no reason why. The fellow I spoke with said it's odd that no background had been run by now. I guess they have no automation in place to track these things. It looks like I'm still as much as 30 days away from any status change, but that depends largely on the speed of the background check. I live a boring, law abiding life.

Stuff happens. I'm not happy, but the lack of LTC does not affect my daily life. If I'd just renewed the last one, I would not likely be waiting today. 73 business days so far. It doesn't stop me from hunting or hitting the gun range.

From what I am seeing I don't think that is good info. More people are receiving plastic lately than since the beginning of January and in a more timely manner. They have added more people to the process and it seems to be helping. Besides that, people have found they can contact their reps and the governor and get things done. The law states 60 days and that is their time frame they have to work in. Most people are not going to let it go much more than that until they cry foul.

I would seriously doubt that was an actual "supervisor". Too many people have reported speaking to a supervisor for that to be a reality. Either that or they have more supervisors than staff.

I would seem that week ending 6 May was a good one for lots of folks. Perhaps the new hires they have are getting up to speed?
Here's hoping the rest who are kept waiting get that little bit o' plastic soon.

Too bad that
GC §411.177. ISSUANCE OR DENIAL OF LICENSE
only specifies:
(3) notify the applicant in writing that the department is unable to make a
determination regarding the issuance or denial of a license to the applicant
within the 60-day period prescribed by this subsection and include in that
notification an explanation of the reason for the inability and an estimation of
the amount of time the department will need to make the determination.
and:
(a) The department shall issue a license to carry a handgun to an applicant if
the applicant meets all the eligibility requirements and submits all the application
materials. The department shall administer the licensing procedures in good faith
so that any applicant who meets all the eligibility requirements and submits all the
application materials shall receive a license. The department may not deny an
application on the basis of a capricious or arbitrary decision by the department.
(b) The department shall, not later than the 60th day after the date of the receipt
by the director’s designee of the completed application materials:
(1) issue the license;
(2) notify the applicant in writing that the application was denied:
(A) on the grounds that the applicant failed to qualify under the criteria
listed in Section 411.172;
(B) based on the affidavit of the director’s designee submitted to the
department under Section 411.176(c); or
(C) based on the affidavit of the qualified handgun instructor submitted to
the department under Section 411.188(k); or
(3) notify the applicant in writing that the department is unable to make a
determination regarding the issuance or denial of a license to the applicant
within the 60-day period prescribed by this subsection and include in that
notification an explanation of the reason for the inability and an estimation of
the amount of time the department will need to make the determination.
(c) Failure of the department to issue or deny a license for a period of more than
30 days after the department is required to act under Subsection (b) constitutes
denial.
(d) A license issued under this subchapter is effective from the date of issuance
So they are required to do "something" by the 60th day, but if they do nothing, they have another 30 days before it defaults to denial, even absent cause. So much for "Shall Issue".

Luckily, it seems they are ignoring the automatic denial provision while they are catching up or there would be a lot of people submitting a second fee just to make it through the backlog.

I'm at 112 calendar days and 76 business days. I believe mine will be issued just before the 90 day mark. It's likely that if I'd waited a month or so to submit, I'd already have it.

I thought I had send in everything but realized after 90 days, that I had not send in chl 100 class certificate. I didn't get anything in email or writing saying I needed to send that. I emailed it to Austin 2 day prority mail tax deadline day April 18. So my question is, to anyone that can give me a good answer, is, do I start over, or will they go ahead and process and go on. If they don't get all your paperwork from the start, do they just put it on hold, waiting for it all, or are they already started and waiting for the rest? Any info appreciated. Thanks. I know, I should have read instructions better.

Unfortunately, your clock doesn't start until your application is complete. Your application isn't complete until all items are received.

Hang in there.

Was told 6 weeks by more than 1 source, now, the lady today told me "Oh well, we originally said 6 weeks, but now we are requesting more time. :mad5
I, too, like someone else on here said, have had both federal and state level background checks. This is dumb. So Maybe by the end of the summer I'll have my license. Hope I'm not dead by then.
Just got a call from DPS, and the lady, Molly I think, told me that my card is being scanned and they're mailing it to me. I should have it in a week! Guess my complaining did some good. I'm excited!!! One more week!

Hello fellow waiters.

All in date 3/22/16
Confirmation email from RSD 3/22/12
No correspondence has been sent to me as of 5/13/16

I called RSD today and I was told that my application was in progress as of 5/7/16. I was told that it usually takes 30 days after it gets moved to "in progress" status.

No change on the Website status. I still get the same old status.

"LICENSE APPLICATION STATUS: If you have a pending License to Carry a Handgun application, please allow sufficient time for processing. If you have not already done so, please submit all of the items listed on the checklist you received. DPS will notify you by mail if further information or additional documents are required."

Is this what everyone else is getting? :banghead:
