4 May Contacted DPS and agent stated investigation completed and license was mailed today

All in verified 1/21; still no background check
Been lurking while waiting.
I got off the phone with DPS right around 1900 & found that they have had all my documentation since the middle of January, but still have not requested the background check. It sucks, but at least they're now aware. Worst case guess is another month, because NICS has their own schedule for a reply once the submitted. Two of the four of us that submitted the same day have their license. Of those two, one has the wrong photo, but that seems easily remedied with a reissue. The third from our group had his fee refunded with no explanation, so he's back at the end of the line. Not enough data for a statistic, but a 25% success rate seems pretty poor for such a small group. It seems 1/21 was a popular day for submission acknowledgement. I'd guess they send those in batches after the application is queued.

For what it's worth, Mine was a no brainer as far as background investigation. I just retired from the Army in 2013 and since then have not worked. I have a 100% disability rating with the VA and I also get military retirement pay. I haven't even had a speeding ticket since 1995. BTW...My online status hasn't changed either.

just for point of reference, my wife submitted all the paperwork on Jan 25th 2016.
got her LTC on May 4th 2016. that's about 14 weeks of waiting.

So Apparently, according to this article...the DPS is working 7 days per week including overtime...however the applications are starting to dwindle...which is good for them and good for us, but not necessarily good for Texas.... anyway, seemed related thought y'all might like it...

I called Texas Public Safety Commission at 5124247771 and got a call back within two hours. As long as your background check is back someone there will put it in the rotation to be processed (7-10 days).
