Glocks are like hammers. Simple, always work and ugly. They are simply a tool, nothing to get sentimental about. Until returning to law enforcement in December 2015, I never carried one on duty. My last 9 years in uniform I carried my Colt Delta Elite SS that I had customized myself by installing a beavertail grip safety, adjustable trigger, Wilson full guide rod and Trijicon night sights. It was finicky when I first got it but I managed to work all the bugs out of it to where it was very reliable and started carrying it on duty. In my last two years in LE I was plainclothes and it continued to serve me well. That DE was a gift from my wife so needless to say it will always hold a special place as all my 1911s do. All that being said, this new department issued Glock 22 is fun to shoot and has yet to bobble after about 1000 rounds I have put through it so far. I have complete confidence in this Glock, but if it were to get stolen tomorrow I would just get another one and move on, something I can't say about my 1911s, especially the DE.

I've been shooting S&W revolvers and Colt 1911 handguns for 40+ years and consider a striker fired pistol to be akin to a very sweet da pull on a revolver. But on that revolver, if I want to shoot a 100 yd ram, I cock it first and make my shot. I wouldn't even try that shot double action. I don't know or not if my reasoning is flawed or not, and don't care. I just know what I know.
I tried to buy a hom defense gun on Friday and everything that had a rail built in was striker fired, so now I have to order a SIG 229 with a da/sa configuration. I don't understand the fascination of a Glock, except maybe for the price.

Rock island armory makes 1911's with a rail if you are so inclined.

I am so grateful that there is a choice other than 1911 and striker fired plastic. That there are guns that take advantage of both single or double action, , a gun that has pretty flat trajectory instead of a rainbow arc. A gun that can handle lead ball if I want. and can be field stripped without ant tools. No wierd double trigger thingy that is supposed to be a safety. (How does that thing make it safer? A gun that didn't need fluffing and buffing or tuning to make it reliable. Guns that are made in America by Americans for Americans, and not made by a bunch of democratic socialist. No grip safety cause you only need one lever that actually works.
