Sports Authority need a reality check.

Wife and I went to check out the new Sports Authority (formerly Oshman's) in Portafino Center in The Woodlands today. About the only thing different was a slight rearrangement of the store and an even smaller gun selection.

Speaking of the gun section, as many know Oshmans/Sports Authority puts trigger locks on the handguns inside of the display case, including the bb pistols and air soft pistols. I guess I can understand this action on the "real" guns, but BB and air soft? That's a little over the top.

I'm not typically a complainer, but The Sports Authority is terrible. I was in there a few days ago (Sugar Land) and had a run in with one of their employees (smart mouth). I'm not going back.

I tried to find a method to email them on their web site and couldn't find an email address for the customer service.

I agree its over the top...Its really sad when a retail business feels it must do things to make a certain minority section of the population feel good about being in their store...Yet by doing this they alienate a larger section of the populace and potential customers...

Not to worry, it always comes out in the numbers at the end of the month...

What else do they sell there??? Racketball stuff???

I remember when I was a kid ( I know I still am to most of you) going into oshmans ans seeing Uzis on the rifle rack. What the heck happened?

I have had similar experiences with the Sport Authority in Sugar Land.
On two different occasions I have gone there to purchase pistol ammo that was on sale. On both occasions I have gotten the impression that they really did not want to sell it. No one on duty in the department, no one willing to come to the department. On the last occasion I used their phone to call their operator and demand that someone come to get out the product so I could buy it. When they guy finally showed up, he pretended not to be able to find the 10 boxes of 9mm right in front of his face on the shelf. Really frustrating experience, and I assure you that if the price had not been so attractive, my business would have gone elsewhere.

I have had similar experiences with the Sport Authority in Sugar Land.

Mine wasn't even over Ammo... It was over athletic shoes that were marked 50% off and $39.99. They wanted to charge me 80 bucks and got a little too cocky about it. I let them keep their shoes and went next store to Rack Room Shoes and bought two pairs. I guess it's just hard to get good help these days :x

Anyway, I used to like Oshman's, but i'm off of The Sports Authority, for good.

Last month I bought some 223 ammo they had advertised at the Ridgmar store and since they only had 1 box, the very nice sales guy called the Hulen store (about 6 miles away) and found out they had 9 more boxes. Gave them my name and held them up front for me until I got there about 20 minutes later. People at both stores were very nice. They didn't have much of a selection of guns in the case, but at least no attitude problems.

I will patronize Academy but only as a last resort. They support the democratic (anti 2nd ammendment) party with 95% of their contributions. I would rather spend a couple of extra bucks when I know it's not going to be spent to support the likes of John Kerry, Diane Feinstein, Ted Kennedy and the like.
