So far nothing at ours. Some parishioners have been discussing it.

When you write the bishop, include Charles' recent updated facts from the DPS crime stats.

Which diocese are you in?

I'd be inclined to either not go to church (I'm catholic, also) or just carry anyway. The bishop can go stuff it IMO

Remember, carrying past a 30.06 sign has been reduced to just a Class C. But that's not the case in church. It's still a violation of PC §46.035, which is a Class A.

I don't recommend it either way. But suggesting to just carry anyway is also frowned upon in this forum - Rule #4.
Your best option for personal security is a lifelong commitment to avoidance, deterrence, and de-escalation.
When those fail, aim for center mass.

If enough tithe reductions take place, the diocese may change its stance. If churches see no need to carry for the parishioners, why do some have armed security for the pastors?

this is the response I got from DD

http://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/FBI-Of ... 36431.html
Faith leaders have to adopt a new kind of planning beyond traditional preparations for fire or weather, according to John Smith, risk management director with the Catholic Diocese of Dallas.

"The key is to be proactive and plan for it ahead of time and train for it ahead of time, so in the unlikely event something does happen, you're ready and prepared to deal with that situation," Smith said.

The pope has stated that he is against people having firearms. The church leaders are going to follow the lead of the pope. The church leaders want to please the pope and leaders in higher office.

What is meant by this statement in the article?
The new Texas open carry law exempts houses of worship, but Cazares-Thomas said many gun owners may not know that.

I don't know where that comes from but a local LEO swears to me they were told by DPS that as of Jan 1 all church carry was prohibited by law.

That is obviously incorrect.

I find it very disturbing when the "experts" that are providing the training and enforcing the laws don't know the laws.

I'd like to know the specifics of what this is supposed to mean....and does the DD intend to instill whatever proactive plan at all the churches. Armed guards? What? What about smaller rural churches?

"The key is to be proactive and plan for it ahead of time and train for it ahead of time, so in the unlikely event something does happen, you're ready and prepared to deal with that situation," Smith said.

Might I suggest converting to Southern Baptist ? or maybe some sort of Non-Denominational sect that allows carry ?
