Critics are blasting a Massachusetts city’s new law that they claim requires residents applying for a license to carry handguns to write “an essay” and pay upwards of $1,100 for training.

I guess that means the anti-gun crowd are elitists that only want rich people to have guns and be able to defend themselves.

Back in the 80's when I got a pistol permit in NY I had to go in front of a judge and he questioned me before issuing the permit. In those days it wasn't even a carry permit, target shooting, hunting and fishing.

Does spelling and grammar usage count? ;-)

Apparently history and civics don't.

I would think that some good 2A Lawyers would be jumping all over this situation. Am I missing something here? Didn't the SCOTUS say that states and cities could not come up with idiotic, way out rules for citizens to be able to get a LTC?

Yes, that's a good one.

Where's that rat Sharpton on this?
Oh yes, comfort the "afflicted" and afflict the "comfortable" only if it fits the narrative.

Selective outrage, and yep, this is something that'll affect the impoverished or those barely hanging on the most.

Great job Massachusetts....NOT. :nono:

isn't anyone going to call "RACIST!!!1111!"

after all, how is this any different than a literacy test followed by a wealth test.

...and I bet they'll want to see a driver's license too. Good thing there's no voting involved!

This smacks of the abuses of the Jim Crow South. In the bad old days, in some places African-Americans were required to pass a civics test before being allowed to register to vote. The graders always had enough discretion to flunk everyone.

Have a black guy or a woman rape victim get denied, turn it into a media firestorm.

Use their own tactics against them.

That assumes that the media would actually run with a story that doesn't fit the narrative that guns are evil and anyone who wants to own/carry one has a few screws loose.
