`I don't even like to wait
My status is this; I did an online application on 14 June, and did the fingerprints on 16 Jun by an agency that sends the results directly to DPS. I just now completed the class and firing range, mailed that in and they got it today, so how long should I expect to wait for them to make me a license? I am anxious, can't you tell?
I found from this forum you can apparently check on the status of the application. When I go there it is a little flaky with explanations, but when I enter my DL nr and DOB, and hit search, nothing comes up at all. Surely in a month and a half they should be showing something, right?

Re: `I don't even like to wait
Hi Don, welcome to the forum! Glad to have you with us!
I think all of us who were waiting felt what you are feeling now. But remember the clock starts ticking after DPS receives ALL your paperwork. So if they received it only today, today is when you should start counting, not a month & a half ago.
Give them a day or 2 to enter your data. Then start checking.

Re: `I don't even like to wait
Seems like most lately on here have been getting their plastic in 3 weeks after ALL paperwork received, some have update on website & have their card in a few days after that & some like me get their plastic with no change on the website. Hopefully yours will show up sooner than you think.

Re: `I don't even like to wait
They have had my application for three full business days, yet when I run a status check it comes up with nothing. Am I wrong to assume that they would stick on a status, even if all it said that all documents are received? How long have others waited after the CHL people got all your documents until there is a status listed on the status check site?

Re: `I don't even like to wait
See below what I have highlighted.
CHL APPLICATION STATUS: If you have a pending CHL application, please allow sufficient time for processing. If you have not already done so, please submit all of the items listed on the checklist you received. DPS will notify you by mail if further information or additional documents are required.
Start Application
Select the application you would like to complete at this time.
Apply for Instructor Certification (to teach CHL courses)
Change Information
Change residential address
Change mailing address
Change contact information
Report lost license
Report stolen license
These options show up when the status changes. Mine was 15 days until the change.

Re: `I don't even like to wait
Well they have all my stuff for over two weeks, nothing on the web site checks and nothing when I call them. I realized that the checking places are just concessions to take the load off the DPS, but at some time I think I should figure out how to get ahold of DPS CHL and talk to the people that actually process stuff, to make sure it has been tossed into some box my mistake. Is that wise?
Re: `I don't even like to wait
Don hang in there. I've been watching a lot on here and it seems like 3 weeks after everything is received in the magic number. That was the case for me.

Re: `I don't even like to wait
Hi Don - have you tried calling the number below? If not, call it. You'll have to listen to a very long message, but eventually you'll get to a prompt to connect to the CHL division. You'll talk to a live person. All my paperwork was in and confirmed August 5th. On Friday when I called they told me I was approved and in the printing/mailing process. She also told me that I should receive it within the next week and if I hadn't to give her a call back and she'd update me as to its status....she was very friendly and helpful! My status still hasn't changed on the website.DonFromTexas wrote:Thanks, three weeks is coming up real soon, first part of next week. I guess I will just try to lay back and not get so excited. Good luck!

Re: `I don't even like to wait
I called the 512 area code number, finally got a person. She checked and said "it has gone to printing, so it should be done in 3 weeks". At elast it is not lost or dead as I had suspected, I start the fourth week tomorrow, so that would make it about 6 weeks total. I guess some just don't get handled as quick as others.

The Wait Is Over!
The wait is over! Got my CHL in the mail today, 3 weeks and 3 days after they got the last item. Now if Taurus will speed up their projection of the Taurus Curve I can go for a Wally Walk!

Hit the wrong key, that was supposed to read 3 weeks and 2 days.
