Scope Suggestions?

#1

Post by MikeStone »

Just bought a Weatherby Vanguard S2 in .270 win. Looking for a 3-9x40(ish) scope in a mil-dot reticle. Any suggestions?

Andy has a good point. However, without knowing your budget, I've been quite satisfied with my Vortex Viper and here is one in the approximate magnification you suggested.

Yes, sorry. It's a .270 win and my main use will be for hunting in the 100-200 yard range. My budget is less than $500, closer to $300 if possible.

In the future I might try my hand at longer range target shooting, 300-500 yards, which is why I was looking at the higher magnification. Thanks!

for short range and for hunting you do not need mil-dot/FFP scope. Just get a Bushnell or Viper or Burris SFP scope with duplex or BDC.

Agree with Beiruty. If you must have a range finding reticle, consider one of the newer MOA (rather than MIL Dot) versions. Both work extremely well, but the MOA reticles are a bit easier for novices to wrap their heads around. Here's one that's not too expensive:
