Glock 27 or a Kahr CW40

This question may have been answered a thousand times allready, but I need some help.

I am looking at a Kahr CW40 and a Glock 27. The glock is about $50 more expensive, the price is ok, but what do y'all think is a better CHL gun?

You're gonna get several pages along the general lines of, "Glocks are better, they are the only real gun" and stuff like that from rabid Glock fanboys. That said, I have no idea which would be better

The Glock has more reliability, more firepower, more longevity, and better corrosion resistance than the K...Ka....well, you know.

I think the slimness of the Kahr is negated by it's length and height. When you consider that the Glock has more firepower, has a much better and longer overall track record, and the fact that there is a huge aftermarket for Glock accessories, the Glock IMO wins out. Glocks work all the time, but reading the experience of others will let you know that the poly Kahr's will occasionally have issues. Not all of them, but be aware that a new poly Kahr might need a return to the factory to make them work right. The odds are very, very slim that you will need to do that with a Glock.

I own a G27 and I've never had any reliability issues with it. If you haven't, I would suggest you make arrangements to shoot both the models you have in mind; I have no experience with the Kahr.

I find the 27 to be a bit snappy, and that's due to my having only the middle finger and ring finger around the grip; adding a mag extension kinda defeats the purpose of having such a small pistol, so my little finger is completely off the grip. It's fine for the first shot or two, then the gun "travels" in my hand.

My normal carry is a compact frame .45 ACP, and I shoot it much better than I do the G27. I also have a full-sized Glock in .40 S&W and shoot it well, also. That tiny little G27 frame is good for concealment but, for me, there's a tradeoff in shootability.

I'm in total agreement here...G27's are just too little a frame for me for the caliber, and most people I've seen have steered clear of them...

This is where the wife solidifier her dislike for the .40 caliber...I made the mistake of lining up a G27 (a couple of years ago) for her, and she and I certainly made many attempts to make it work...So we went in a different direction and maker...

If you can make it work, I am sure its as reliable as the rest of the line...

If you want the terminal performance of a .40, but find the recoil of the G27 too snappy, you might like a G30 in .45ACP. That's my favorite small Glock. It is very accurate and easy to shoot. You can use the 13-round mags in it too.

I have had really good experiences with a +0 grip extension. While the extension does add a small amount of length to the gun....in my case it does not add anything to the grip that alters concealability. The actual rear of the magwell is the same size.

I have handled one Kahr and I really liked it, but it was in the 9mm flavor. I am just not a big 40 S&W fan.

This is interesting I have a G26 and a CW9, they are both too small for me. The Kahr is too thin and the G26's angle is a bit too extreme for my wrist and the handle a really short. I carry a springfield SC40 with the larger magazine, my wife likes the G26, I carry the Kahr sometimes and I like the way it conceals but the bottom line is I am not confident when I have it. The grip is so slim I am nervous that I may "limp wrist" it under stress(I know practice more). I never carry the G26 I just don't like it. I have pretty big mitt's so anything that is not full-size is tough on me.

I will say that I have not had any issues out of the box with either of them. I think it is going to come down to your own personal preference upon deciding what to carry.

I got the CW9 because I thought it was lightweight and concealed well. My wife really wanted a G26 because her sister-in-law had one and she liked it. I did not like it from the first touch. I was already carring the XD SC40 so I stuck with it. Sometimes I carry my full-size Baby Desert Eagle .40.

Just remember that concealment is only a small portion of why you are carrying, being able to aim and fire it accurately is VERY important.

I can say that my Glock 23 in 40 cal is very nice. It is not to big and not to small. It is a very good CCW. That is my 2 cents worth.
