As the name indicates, this is the place for gun-related political discussions. It is not open to other political topics.

Walmart and MSR's

#1

Post by rwg3 »

I came across this article today and wondered if it can be verified?

http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/walmar ... &ocid=iehp

The gist of the article is that Walmart will stop selling Modern sporting rifles (AR's) in the next few weeks.
They portray this as a business decision and not succumbing to political pressure. I am not sure what to think as generally I am among the last to hear these things and I did not find a notice of this after a quick review elsewhere in the forum.
As always if this a duplicate or not in the right section please edit accordingly.

It's being reported in a lot of circles, so I'm under the assumption its real. Probably a bottom line issue, rather than a political one.

I can't verify it but wanted to say that if it was political, they would likely have stopped selling them a couple years ago when many others did. My local walmart has had the same dust "AR" on the shelf for about a year (maybe longer)... you'd think some of the dust would fall off if it was even looked at occasionally and they sold them out of the back stock.

This is factual. Any 'black guns', accessories, and any 'tactical' gear is being closed out. I bought a couple of SOG shirts for $9 each, two pair of EMT style tactical pants for $17 each and a pair of rip-stop lightweight tactical pants for $21. They had rail mounted and trigger guard mounted lasers for small guns for $49. Really good deals on the black guns as well.

Get 'em while the getting is good.

Yes, it's true. They stated it is because they are not selling well at most locations. On a side note, most Walmarts in the larger cities are not selling ANY guns anymore. They still have a small amount of ammo, but no gun displays like before. I have never bought a gun from Walmart, but always would "price compare" while the ex was shopping. Now no guns at Walmart and no wife to wait on. "rlol"

I've never seen an AR at a Walmart except near Bentonville - Walmart HQ.

I was pretty surprised a couple of years ago when I wandered past sporting goods and saw them in the display case with the few shotguns and hunting rifles.
