Shots fired at LA airport Terminal 3
No reports that I have heard of that say anyone is injured but people are being evacuated. Why can't we go one darn week without this... making our duty of defending our rights way harder...

Now they are saying people HAVE been injured, hoping for the best for them.

Reported: "High powered rifle" (as opposed I guess to the low powered rifles?)

The airport should be a gun free zone . You can watch live footage via the net at this link.

So is this going to cause another run on ARs? Should I go and get the one I want on Monday?

Go get it RIGHT NOW. Not really, but be prepared for a week or two of ammo price scares...gguess66 wrote:So is this going to cause another run on ARs? Should I go and get the one I want on Monday?

Well, considering there are rifles in .22 long rifle, many pistol calibers and some obsolete calibers like .45/70 that aren't really High Power yes, there are low power rifles. At least they didn't use the dreaded "A word"!G26ster wrote:Reported: "High powered rifle" (as opposed I guess to the low powered rifles?)

Incidents like this is why I ALWAYS carry at the airport (when not going through security, of course).

As an owner of a Marlin in .45-70 I can definitely tell you that it is not "low powered".

A male suspect is reported to have opened fire on a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) employee at Terminal 3 at 9:20 a.m. PT. The TSA agent was reportedly shot in the leg at the security checkpoint area but not inside the actual terminal. TSA spokesman Nico Melendez confirmed that one TSA officer was shot during the incident.

Re: Shots fired at LA airport Terminal 3
Unless you are shooting hand loads. The .45/70 by definition is not considered a High Power Rifle. Yes it kicks like an Army mule, but the muzzle velocity is less than 2000 feet per second, the arbitrary line drawn in the ballistics table.kragluver wrote:As an owner of a Marlin in .45-70 I can definitely tell you that it is not "low powered".

Witness reports, "an assault rifle or a shotgun."MoJo wrote:Well, considering there are rifles in .22 long rifle, many pistol calibers and some obsolete calibers like .45/70 that aren't really High Power yes, there are low power rifles. Also, you can bet that IF it was a .22lr or a pistol caliber it STILL would be reported as "a high powered rifle." That was my point.
LA Times reports: "Some sort of rifle or shotgun." To me that's honesty, but the initial reports of "high powered rifle," which it well may be, were nothing more than media spreading the mantra of the evil guns in civilian hands. MHO
