Grassley - Cruz, which sounds very good.

They will need the 46 nays and at least 14 of those who voted for Toomey-Manchin.

I'm hearing a lot of names called without hearing responses. Are the 54 not voting on this one?

Cruz-Grassley shot down 52 to 48

Leahy-Collins amendment on gun straw purchases fails on vote of 58-42 in Senate

After expansion of background checks for gun purchases fails in Senate, VP Biden says "This is far from over."

This sounds encouraging. Maybe there will be no legislation at all on gun control. Of all the proposals the one that was opposed the least was Grassley-Cruz. Perhaps they can work with that to craft something that will pass. It seems like the more draconian proposals are going down to defeat for sure.

Quite possible that nothing may pass today, but it just means two more weeks of sausage making.

It's incredible how stupid Feinstein sounds.

I think the powers that be know full well which way a vote will go before it happens....in the senate and the house. This tells me the majority was fine with these amendments being defeated for now. Hold steady and be ready!

Obama, Biden, and their gaggle of gun-blame victims are assembled for a shame sham in front of White House right now live on MSNBC and CNN (but not on Fox).

Fox started playing it, then dumped it after about 10 seconds. I switched to CNN a couple of minutes ago, heard him lying (what else?) about the bills and "The NRA and the gun lobby" and switched back to Fox.
