Cowardly Congress / Ruthless NRA / Impotent Obama

For a news outlet that claims to be non-partisan and have no bias on articles that come out, this one is awfully slanted in the National Journal:
http://www.nationaljournal.com/politics ... n-20130320
This is a hit piece if I have ever seen one. The wailing and gnashing of teeth from the AWB dropping off the radar can be heard a long way away.

I stopped reading right here...
Any fool knows that [Adam] Lanza couldn’t possibly have killed as many children as quickly as he did on the morning of Dec. 14 without an assault weapon in his hands.
because that is painfully, ridiculously, maddeningly false. And that is one of my biggest gripes with this frenzied gun control diatribe currently underway... it is almost always based on ignorance or intentional inaccuracy. The leaders of this charge are either disingenuous or irreparably stupid, and I'm not quite sure which is worse.

Unfortunately for me, I tend to keep reading things like this, just to see how far off track things can go. In this case, it is quite far.....

WAHHHHHH, we lost AGAIN in our effort to FIX the gun problem in this terrible country by disarming everyone who DIDN'T COMMIT THE CRIME. Oh, I forgot, our real reason to disarm everyone is so that we can ban big sodas, and hide cigarettes, and anything else WE deem bad for people. Oh, and control all of the money, of course. That liberty and personal choice thing; pffffft; people have clearly shown that they can't handle making their own decisions, so WE, the intellectual and monied elite NEED to be making ALL decisions for you stupid people, to protect you from your stupid selves. And so that we can, you know, control everything, like we should. It's IOUR god given right.....

There is some truth to this. You'd have to be a fool to believe that argument.

That article is correct. Any fool does know that. Any intelligent, informed person knows otherwise, but that's not the target audience of the writer.

Nope, they are focused, brilliant, determined, calculating and control public opinion on this issue...
(pause...wait for it)
It doesn't mean they are right...

I wrote him an email, it reads:
Mr Fournier,
After reading your article, I was compelled to write you so I can share my feelings:
First of all, I am Muslim, Arab decent and a moderate in my political views. I do love my firearms, all of type of firearms that are legal to own and that include modern semi-automatic rifles, the so called "Assault Rifles". Like other millions of US citizens,we are law-abiding citizen who never committed any crime or offense, save "the speeding tickets".
Now let me tell you, I am not ashamed gun owner? nor I do have bad intent by owning my firearms. Please, Let me explain. Do you have a car? I am sure you do. The matter of fact, drunk drivers still kill more innocent people, and that include more infants and toddlers, than mentally-ill people kill innocent lives with firearms. Are you ashamed to own and drive a car? Are you calling for ban on cars, any cars accessible to a drunk driver? If you are consistent in your views, than you should be riding a bicycle and that should help your credibility, your health, your pocket and the mother earth we all love and cherish.
Similarly, do you have a swimming pool? Maybe yes, maybe not. Regardless, I am certain that you would love to have a quick dive in hot summer. Are you ashamed for doing just that? Certainly, you are not. On the other hand, the number of infants and toddlers who are drowning in a pool each year suppresses the number killed by a firearm, any firearm. Where is your outrage? where is your article condemning allowing pools to be built in millions of houses?
I can state more and more similarities. However, I would like you to consider to be wise and thoughtful while you do publish your thoughts. What happened in Sandy Hook is a massacre and tragedy that devastated the heart of millions all across the world, myself included. However, there are countless other tragedies not exploited by the mass media that do happen each day. The least to mention the genocide that is happening in Syria and the whole world is silent. Isn't a shame that you are not writing daily to save the countless lives destroyed in Syria?!!!
Thanks for your time reading my thoughts.

There you go again... Trying to use logic on them. I have tried the car analogy before and the liberals/progressives just get upset and start spouting that car's aren't killing machines designed to spit death and I am a bad person for even suggesting that and I should give up my guns if it would save even 1 life!
I have come to the conclusion it is almost a waste of time to argue with a liberal/progressive

Since taking over the position, Fournier has led a dramatic shift in the AP's policy, moving it away from the neutral and objective tone it had become known for and toward a more opinionated style that would make judgments when conflicting opinions were presented in a story.
I was chastised by someone in another thread for saying that the AP has a distinct anti-2A and anti-firearms bias, that they do so many stories that some are bound to be anti. I still maintain that the AP is a main component of the anti-2A and anti-firearms mass media...the above quote dovetails directly into that (though I admit it is from a Wikipedia article on Mr. Fournier). The article posted by the OP in this topic shows just how they really are, IMHO.

"Almost"?????
As for the "if it would save one life" argument, I wouldn't give up my firearms if it would save a million lives. My guns are for the protection of MY liberty, MY freedom, MY safety, and MY family. Society as a whole may benefit from my owning firearms for those purposes, but society isn't the reason I'm a gun owner. And I'm willing to bet that most of us, possible most gun owners, think & feel the same way.
Heck, even the antis do in their heart of hearts. After all, when bad stuff happens, it's guys with guns they call, not the Peace Corps.

Well I keep trying! Because if I can save just 1 liberal it will all be worth it!
