A humorous read, with a lot of truth in it. Before you shout this is off-topic, get down to the penultimate paragraph.

I read it down to the 'penultimate paragraph'.

Rather than humorous, I found it stale.

The propagandist Dowd doesn't generate much sway with me. Her drivel is just that...

I also recognize she's a darling of the liberal set.

I can see them ranting about "meanspiritedness" if the same article was aimed at conservatives.

Bring in the next chain...

A better comparison is the Romans, also brought down by the combination of barbarians and bread & circuses for the citizens.
I sincerely apologize to anybody I offended by suggesting the Second Amendment also applies to The People who don't work for the government.

Nothing more than more gloating from the left, now it is time for them to stop talking and do something positive for this country. So far Obama has still been on the campaign trail, and has yet to reach out and negotiate, the lefts my way or the highway agenda will further lead to the destruction of this country, that will amount to a lost civilization when nobody has personal responsibility, the lfet is bring us there....... I am not your brothers keeper, he can work for himself...........

Whoops:

I can see them ranting about "meanspiritedness" if the same article was aimed at LIBERALS!

Obviously, this screed WAS aimed at conservatives - tongue sticking out/thumb firmly planted on nose and fingers waving.

You can call it humor, you can call it many things, but (to use the circumlocution) it is what it is and humor doesn't factor into this steaming pile...

If the Republicans are extinct, so be it. The Democrats aren't far behind. They'll only last until they run out of other-people's money.

Straight out of the article: "It was just a select world: the G.O.P. universe of arrogant, uptight, entitled, bossy, RETROGRESSIVE white guys"

There's that liberal code word again: RETROGRESSIVE - a word liberals can define in any way they care to...

After pulling on this chain, Dowd's harangue has energized me to get on my bicycle and get my milage in.

So, there's good to be had in her rant after all.

It seems to be their code word for those who want to return to following the Bill of Rights and/or a capitalist economic principles. In the Marxist model, we are currently in the Fifth Stage, so it's retrogressive to desire to return to what they consider the Fourth Stage (capitalism) instead of continuing on the path to communism, which they consider the Sixth Stage in societal evolution.

In other words, it retrogressive to back away from the cliff instead of following the other lemmings. :evil2:

Glad I read past the first post to realize we are talking about Dowd.

No point in me wasting my time to click through and read her drivel.

If I had the oppritunity, I would basically share this bit of history:
"It should come as no surprise that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a Republican. In that era, almost all black Americans were Republicans. Why? From its founding in 1854 as the anti-slavery party until today, the Republican Party has championed freedom and civil rights for blacks. And as one pundit so succinctly stated, the Democrat Party is as it always has been, the party of the four S’s: slavery, secession, segregation and now socialism.

It was the Democrats who fought to keep blacks in slavery and passed the discriminatory Black Codes and Jim Crow laws. The Democrats started the Ku Klux Klan to lynch and terrorize blacks. The Democrats fought to prevent the passage of every civil rights law beginning with the civil rights laws of the 1860s, and continuing with the civil rights laws of the 1950s and 1960s."

:thumbs2: There are many Southerners who are Democrats because a Republican "freed the slaves."
I didn't vote for Obama.
Somebody else did that.

:iagree:
You are so right, Thomas. Then in 1965 we saw a Texan, LBJ, demonstrating the turnaround. True Democrats are terribly ashamed of their history, particularly down here in the south. I lived in Texas during the '30s and the '40s, as a child. I saw it myself, and I never want to see it again, regardless of political party.

Thank you for the reminder. It does Democrats like me good to get a reminder now and then. :tiphat:

If, however, the fact that white Democrats behaved like this in the past justifies another political party behaving like this in the present, I do not buy that. I am certain you do not mean to imply that, but I have seen and heard others imply it.

...and there it is.

If you're not a Democrat, you're a Jim Crow Republican cuz there ain't any other kind...

Surely, they can all be lumped into one big, hate filled, arrogant group, who if they had their way would step on the necks of every minority.

How then do you explain: Many of my fellow conservative friends/acquaintances are minorities, i.e., brown, black, Asian, etc.?

How too, do you categorize Independents?

Yes, I'm a conservative, but I'm an Independent.

One, who (gasp) in the last election voted for two regional Democrats.
