I've never been a fan of Starbucks but if I can verify that this true I will be buying one of their large to go boxes of coffee to bring to work!

Confirm this, and I will switch my daily morning coffee from the 99 cent cup at McD's to the $2.50 cup at Starbucks.

Re: Starbucks on 2/14/12
Oh, you can bet I will be there supporting my local Starbucks! That's just wrong...
Re: Starbucks on 2/14/12
I don't know about this part:
"all of the retail chains—except for Starbucks— banned guns from being carried in their stores."
I don't know of any retail chains that ban CHL as company policy one a national or even regional basis, except maybe Jarod's Jewelers.
Nevertheless, I have marked my calendar for Feb 14 to start buying $4 coffee every day.
Seems like something else was going on that day too......

found this at http://www.examiner.com/gun-rights-in-s ... -scheduled" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
" ALMOST TWO YEARS has passed since the Brady Campaign launched its dismal campaign to bully Seattle-based Starbucks into acting as its surrogate in the pursuit of social bigotry against gun owners, an effort that failed miserably – as this column reported – when Starbucks profits went up instead of down.
Starbucks’ sin is that the coffee giant caters to everybody, including legally-armed citizens, whether they carry openly or concealed. Starbucks made it plain in 2010 when the Brady Campaign, assisted locally by Washington CeaseFire, that it abides by local state laws and does not discriminate against a certain class of customers. Many open carry advocates began patronizing Starbucks, if they weren’t already doing it, as a show of support. "
" On the other hand, Starbucks has the legal right to serve any customer it pleases, including someone exercising his or her right to bear arms. Fineman evidently doesn’t grasp that.
There has been much alarmist rhetoric over this issue that lacks one key element: Where has there been a single incident inside of a Starbucks involving a legally-armed citizen that resulted in criminal violence?
Well, there was that case in Sacramento last year involving a woman who accidentally shot herself to death outside of a Starbucks. Oops, wait a minute; she was 19, so she was illegally carrying that pistol in her purse.
Then there was that triple murder at a Maryland Starbucks back in 1997. Well, no, again. The guy who did that one was a convicted felon with a long record, in the act of committing an armed robbery, so he wasn’t legally carrying, either. Indeed, this is just the kind of guy citizens arm themselves against.
And the Huffington Post made a rather big deal out of a string of killings that began with an argument over Starbucks coffee. Nah, that doesn’t count, either, since the killings involved a feud between two notorious biker gangs fighting over turf in San Jose, CA and didn’t actually happen at the coffee shop, but in other places in three different states.
Looks like Starbucks will be selling a lot more coffee. "

Here's my message to Starbucks:
"I understand an anti-gun group is organizing a boycott of your stores nationwide starting Feb 14. I don't often stop at a Starbucks, but beginning Feb 14 I will patronize your stores on a daily basis. I will also encourage my friends to do the same.
Suggestion from a marketing person: Offer anyone with a state-issued carry permit a free cup of coffee on Feb 14.
Your current policy is just right. Please do not change it."

Re: Starbucks on 2/14/12
I find this really funny! Going on 10 years ago I was management at a Starbucks while in college and they are a very "liberal" company. In many ways it kind of reminds me of Costco with customer service and how they treat their employees. Which is not a bad thing! Good starting pay and benefits as far as entry level retail/food goes. I remember at one store I worked at that I was the only "square" one who did not smoke pot. I assume they still don't have drug tests because they would fire at least 80% of their staff nation wide!
The only way I would believe this is because they are all about profit! They don't want to refuse service to anyone!

The irony! They had the strictest no weapons policy of any company I have ever worked for other then a school district. I remember taking thousands to the bank drop box during the holidays and just hoping I didn't get robbed!
