The bailout monies are approximately $750billion.

The population of the US as of July 2008 was approximately $303million.

Wouldn't it have been more of a direct stimulus to send $2,475 to each citizen of the US for use in spending (maybe in the form of a VISA card so it wouldn't go directly into savings)?

I could buy another rifle and some ammo with that much money.

I've got a better idea: How about if they just don't rob me of the two grand in the first place.

This sounds great in theory, and to an extent I think it is good and would definently stimulate the economy more than the stimulus bill probably will, however, not every citizen in US pays taxes, let alone some of those citizens are leaches and do not deserve a rebate in taxes they haven't paid into the system.

I don't think that they've robbed you (or me). This bail-out money is fiat. They made it up ... like Monopoly money.

if they did that, there would be no money for political favors/paybacks and ACORN..the nut doesn't fall from the tree.

Unfortunately they will never do this, but I think this is probably the most direct and probably fastest way to stimulate the economy.

Actually, I was having a discussion sometime last week when one of my buddies had said that - it made a lot of sense. I did not hear it on Rush. Maybe that is where my buddy heard it from - was Rush talking about that last week too?...

It actually makes more sense than anything that is being proposed at this time.

He was talking about it yesterday. It makes sense to me too. They won't do it though. It would take too much away fom the ones that don't pay taxes but reap the rewards. I'm kind of mad at Rush though. He made a comment about the middle class being a big part of the problem with the economy. I wish I could remember exactly what he said. Since I hit 50 I can't remember things as well.

A freeze would never fly, as it would put a severe crimp in the Socialist plan to take from the working and give to the voluntarily not working.

If they didn't rob from Peter how would they buy Paul's vote?
